bwtucker 29 #1 Posted February 4, 2020 Last spring The Hydrostat in my 1994 GT 1855 stopped working. At the time I went out and bought a Ferris Zero turn but wanted to keep the tractor for the large snow blower I have for it. It has an Eaton 11 pump which as I'm sure many of you know, are difficult to impossible to get parts for. I did track down a gasket kit for it but that was it. I didn't want to buy a used one and inherit any problems it might have. So I tore it apart after much youtube video watching. Fortunately, all it was was a stuck check valve. I soaked the disc in brake cleaner for several days, replaced all o-rings and such, was liberal with the assembly lube and put it all back together. In the meantime, since to get the pump out requires moving the engine forward, and to do that requires tearing half the front end off, I decided to do a total tear down and repaint/rebuild. All new bushings, wire wheeled off the rust, primed, painted and re-assembled. All while praying that the pump worked again after all of that work. I'm please to say that it worked like a champ in the recent snow storm we had. Here are some pictures for your enjoyment.
