The Tuul Crib 7,336 #1 Posted February 1, 2020 I'm sitting out on my back porch enjoying the cool day when I hear some yelling at the top of my hill. It goes straight up for about 500 feet and up above that is a tower that reaches 300 feet in the air. Of course this tower belongs to Verizon or should I say my next-door neighbor which is collecting a nice check from this tower anyway...... I went up to the top of my hill to watch and found this guy at the top. Holy Camoli! he was yelling down at one point at the people on the ground you can hear the clicking of the metal from his safety harness, IMG_7475.MOV
Sparky-(Admin) 21,305 #2 Posted February 1, 2020 I’m ok with heights....tall step ladders...extension ladders...bucket trucks..etc. But I bet I would tense up if I was up on that tower.
The Tuul Crib 7,336 #3 Posted February 1, 2020 There definitely would be a pucker factor on that one!! I'm sure they make a decent salary for doing that but I sure wouldn't want to!
WHNJ701 4,165 #4 Posted February 2, 2020 we did a big land survey project years ago, and there was a crew changing a transmission power line. they were doing it with 2 helicopters, first one was pulling the cable and the second a guy was hanging off it for connections, there was a also a crew ahead climbing the towers disconnecting. they had a safety net under them. it was something watching that process

Pullstart 62,795 #8 Posted February 6, 2020 I don’t see anything wrong with that day job! Imagine the views barely anyone else gets to experience... No micro managing boss breathing down your neck... he’s too afraid to do the work him self!
