Pullstart 62,783 #1 Posted February 1, 2020 I noticed that this 502 and the Commando 800 frames had different transmission mounting plates. @hcminis DJ you mentioned the plate you had cut for the 1045 that was waiting to be welded in. Does the plate get placed over the stamped ribs, or do they need to be pounded flat, or was that plate meant for flat mounting plates like my 502? ebinmaine 67,265 #2 Posted February 1, 2020 Several different ways of reinforcing the area nowadays. @pullstart Kevin what are you doing to help on your big long tractor. On Colossus I'll be using a brace or two and also a VERY heavy duty set of parallel bars as basically a secondary frame. It will run from the mid hitch point, bolt to the axle, to behind the rear tires. The hitch will be at the end of that. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Pullstart 62,783 #4 Posted February 1, 2020 I guess in a way, I wasn’t looking for bracing suggestions, as much as the back full sized plate that DJ recently cut for his 1045.... in relation to sandwiching the big air gap stamped into the original plate? That'll take care of any weak spots around the bolt holes. A part of the concern I've seen pics of is the area right at the corner. The angle braces would help that. Others have used a heavy angle on each side bolted to the transmission and the side of the mount. I put the 1/4" x 11/2" strips on my 520 haven't installed the braces as yet . The flats could also be welded inplace, mine are just bolted. With your abilitys if it's realy busted up just cut it out and build a heaver one. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

So the plate slid right down in and will be welded to the sides as well as top and bottom. I can laser cut more if needed. OR, could make the 2 separate pieces to go above and below the stamped ribs.
