But it all really depends on the snow type... On my tall single D.O.T. plow banks were my nemesis... Not so much any more with the 2 stage.
Ed Kennell 38,021 #3 Posted February 1, 2020 My experience with the single stage blowers (long and short chute). To work in heavy wet snow, they need a good constant supply of snow to keep the auger full enough to push the snow out and not allow it to freeze in the chute. This is one reason I recommend hydro transmissions for snow blower use. So the ground speed can be varied to keep the auger full and the snow moving in the chute. It is almost impossible to keep a SS from clogging in wet heavy snow.
peter lena 8,580 #4 Posted February 1, 2020 agree with above , probably the best reason to have another wheel horse set up with a plow, if your snow is light and fluffy , any blower will move it with ease, short chute, long chute or walk behind . if its wet i always go to the plow , wet snow does not have the lift of dry snow , just a matter of fact. pete
