My cousin is a Hot Rod'r through and through. He and his girl finally tied the knot and had a little party at his place. My cousin owns the Chevy II and the 57 Chevy. He built that 57. There isn't a piece on that car he didn't assemble with his own 2 hands. Even painted it. Other cars were his friends. 57 Chevy wagon,, 67 numbers matching Corvette,, 40 something Olds. Even served Hot Rod Wine !!

The V stood for a factory V8 no V was 6 cylinder. The gold trim was only on factory Bel Air. The 210 and 150 had silver trim.

1958 saw the first Big Block Chevy,  the 348, 1961 to '65 it became a 409 and in 1965 a totally new big block 396 came on the scene.

Yep, it was also said that the gold V could designate that the car had the Power Pack option if it was on a lower trim level car, I have no proof of that.  Anyway, you looked for the V and dual exhaust to identify a Power Pack engine that had a four barrel carburetor and other upgrades to make more horsepower.

The guy who pinstriped “Poppy” for me is working on one of his hot rods.  He’s got a cool little shop and turns out a lot of good work!  A couple years ago he bought a plasma table and got to work selling decoration stuff and small brackets and tabs until it was paid for.  Now, he’s got a free toy to build cool stuff with!

I still need @Coulter Caleb to sign in and do a write up on his new Hot Rod…however, he had his senior pics done a few weeks ago and these are a couple of my favorites…

He built this frame a few years back, or at least cut up a stocker and made it his own.  It was destined for the delivery wagon in the background, then he bought a full custom frame for it instead.  He recently found this shell in the foreground and decided he already had a frame, a second power glide, a second 283, might as well build a second rod!

Thanks Richie—I think a Christmas present for me for the shed, will be that picture in an 11x14 or so on canvas to hang on the wall.  Hoping that we can get a three generation picture with Dad/Grandpa and his 1967 Goat in the background with ours sometime next summer…

Thoughts on this one?  Too much faux patina?  It sure makes me regret (no regerts!) not finding a way to haul the old C50 from our old house here, or simply not asking Grandpa for ownership earlier!  We owned the place 10 years before I asked Grandpa for it.  When we bought the house from him, it wasn’t part of the deal.  ‘67 Small window C50. Not much cooler than that!

The grey one they did looks much better. I love the truck but yeah, to much sanding. I would have left it mostly blue.

Like I said in the past, my favorite configuration of engine is six in a row. 292 or Ford 300. Either way. I love that name. Buz'n half dozen.

 

Either a 12V DEE-TROIT truck engine or how bout a couple 6V's pushin some dirt!

Notice the way that dozer is split down the middle. One engine for each track and allows for the tracks to pivot independently to provide the most traction. I’ve never seen one in person and I’d definitely like to run it for a while, provided I have hearing protection!!

I’ve been talking to a guy about this car.  It’s a ‘57 Pontiac Star Chief.  347/auto with the points ignition.  Runs, drives, “interior is 8/10” he says.  One door window is cracked but still works.  He has all the chrome for it.  I feel it calling my name.  He wants it gone before snow flies.  I can see it shining like a patina’d diamond after a nice wet sand and buff!

Those later morphed into the tall deck 427 used in Medium Duty trucks.
