cgambino1018 21 #1 Posted January 19, 2020 Found a Toro WH battery guage in the garage. I noticed they go for a few bucks.. so I would like to test it before putting it up for sale. I used my trickle charger to try to get the needle to move but got nothing to happen. should i be using a battery to test? which screw should the power (+) be connected to? which screw should the ground (-) be connected to? All help is appreciated as obviously i dont know what i am doing Cheers Chris
pfrederi 17,662 #2 Posted January 19, 2020 Just wire it to a battery. The trickle charger may not put out any charge if it doesn't sense a battery
R Scheer 502 #3 Posted January 19, 2020 And the G terminal should go to "-", and the I terminal to "+". Just connect to a battery, a lot of the new chargers need to see a battery to work. Also would be a good idea to use a fused lead.

Get another voltmeter or DVOM to use as a baseline. G to - or ground clamp. I to + Check readings....

cleat 5,809 #7 Posted January 20, 2020 Center post is ground, I is for ignition or + power, S would be for the sensor if it were a fuel gauge, tach etc.
