Doh!  Forgot 61 was the beginning of the “new era” round hoods!

It’s a little too far to pull the trigger right now, but a great deal in my mind at $500!

Randy, I think it is the double pulley for the 1961, 701.

What would that be used for?

Definitely either a 701 or a tractor someone has put a lot of effort into looking like a 701.  The 62 had a slotted nose instead of solid as well.

Looks like a 701 with alot of wrong parts.  might be a nice cruiser, but it's far from original.  I am picky,  I would pass on it for 500

I know you couldn’t build it for $500, unless you had what it takes to put one together...

100% correct, but if you want to make it into an original 701 your going to put alot $$ into it if you can even find the parts 701 parts are very specific.

for the conditions it's in its not really a collectible piece.  like I said nice cruiser for someone

I’m not sure.  If you punch up the CL machine and look  where they were built...

OK school me on the incorrect 701 parts.

Based on my minimal experience i would say the following is incorrect.

Seat

Stirrup foot rest

Possible the rear fenders don't have the correct shape to the rear tip on them

What else?

in addition to what you mentioned , i also see , plastic dash, steering wheel, engine belt guard (rare), shifter would be straight( I can't tell from the pics.)

don't get me wrong it's nice looking but it's miss matched.  if it runs and drives nice might be good for someone?

I'd agree it's a 701. Few wrong parts that have been mentioned. But for 500 I'd say it's a pretty sweet little machine

In all honesty, if that popped up in my neck of the woods, I’d pop on it pretty quick.  I’d get rid of the lights, put on a correct steering wheel, and add a square seat pan, paint the engine red, and be happy!
