ebinmaine 67,277 #3 Posted January 15, 2020 If you can find ethanol free gasoline you have no concerns about any additives being needed. if you have gasoline WITH ethanol in it you also should have little to no concern about water being in it because it will to some extent mix with the water anyways. I find it very interesting that he did the test proving that Startron wouldn't absorb the water and then pointed out that Startron is NOT MEANT TO ABSORB WATER... Wait a minute. What?? If I'm missing something please feel free to point it out or correct me. if you haven't already gathered, I'm not at all a fan of additives of any kind. True you are but I cannot afford to fill the Silverado's 33 gallon tank ( or the Cobalt's 12 gallon tank for that matter ) with non E @ roughly 5 bones a gallon . The non E goes strictly in the lawn equipment and the Can Am .

That said, it is out of the way for me to drive there and I don't put it in my regular daily driven vehicle either. Like I said in my other post I'm not a fan of additives so getting an opinion from me on an additive can be kind of tough. My life experience has shown me that as long as I keep my vehicles maintained and drive them on a regular basis without them sitting for more than a few days there is no reason to put additives in gasoline. Again. My experience. Others may vary. Before I switched over to using non ethanol fuel exclusively in all of our small equipment a couple years ago, I used to make sure that I either ran the engine until it was bone dry or shut off the fuel so the carb had as little as possible in it.

Any automobile made after 2001 have fuel systems that can handle E15 without issue so you should only have to worry about the aircooled engines (BTW I own/drive all Bowties myself)

I can't give an example but I've read there are some that specifically state E10 as a Max. My Kia "recommends" E10 as a Max.

There is a place for Star-Tron I have three bottles. Chainsaws, Weedeaters, all two cycle small engines. I usually dump the gas back in the can and run them dry. If you are planning to used them again the next day and something get in the way, then you forget about it. then months later when you need it, it's all gummed up. My first choice is a large dose of Star-Tron my favorite, I know the other brand will most likely work also . I can get Star-tron for $5.95 . And it has fix the gummed up problem a lot of times for me. I have used it on the Honda engine on my vacuum. and it set a year with ethanol gas. I dump it straight into the carburetor and add a little gas. let it set 30 minutes and it fired up. Smoked like an old steam train for a few minutes. I use non ethanol gas now but if something isn't running like it should and I think it has dirt or trash in the carburetor it get a dose of Star-Tron that will usually fix it. I just open up my JD carburetor and it has a bad float. They don't make carburetors out of cast iron any more.
