chain routing on 79361 blower

Recommended Posts

Denis L Goulet

hi can someone tell me the chain routing on a 1996 44 inch, 2stage,79361 snow thrower, from pictures I cant see if chain goes around tension block or not.

or does the block lean on chain to take the slack.

The tensioner rides up against the chain. Not much of a pic but the best I have. @WVHillbilly520H prolly gonna ream my butt again for running a dry chain!

wow, that's the best picture I have seen of the tension block yet, mine is pretty much worn out compared to yours, so I guess I will order a new one from parts tree, thanks for the great picture

(PS the chain area in mine was so full of (****) grease I could not see the tension block at first glance.)

Hmmm, when I first got mine, think I remember the tensioner being the other way and it was on the outside of the chain. It's been a long while and that wood block tensioner was quickly changed to an idler sprocket. Is the inside of the chain loop the correct way it should be?

OK as owner of only single stage WH blowers I have to ask...Did they really plan on a piece of wood for a chain tensioner...like how long would that last....for a machine that was expensive??

WHX??

That's the way it was when I took it apart but that don't mean it's right 'Fish.. I don't think the bracket would allow it to go the other way??:scratchead:

Ther was a thread on how to go to a idler sprocket  awhile back Denis.

Yeah that's what I said Paul when we were talking about going to an idler. Never knew ther was a wood shoe.

ok ,I have a doubt again is the chain on the inside around the block

or on the outside just putting tension on the chain. I have to be certain the new nylon block is 100$,i don't want to mess it up.

The illustration for the IPL shows the flat side of the block like it is in Jim's pic above, so I would say it goes inside the chain loop
