ebinmaine 68,878 #26 Posted January 31, 2020 I don't run PTO on our horses but I didn't know that was a problem area for these. Part of maintenance on ANY machine involves partial disassembly and lubing things. I'm not sure I see why a tech would tell you that. Others will be along to help you with proper assembly sequence. The old IH red is darker that the new IH red. Example : a Farmall H is darker than a Case IH 7120. The newer color is a closer match to red, I think. But then again I've never had a new old stock piece to take to a jobber so that they can use a scanner on it. To be perfectly honest about color, in the ball park is quite close enough. No one will persecute you, unless you spray your JD green & yellow . To haul my freshly painted parts, I lay some cardboard down in the bed of my truck & space every thing out as much as I can. Then the trip home is done as though I'm driving on eggs the whole way home. 2 1

ebinmaine 68,878 #45 Posted February 6, 2020 Looks fantastic! Perhaps you could gently tell your Other Half that this is no more a lawn mower than a new (insert her dream vehicle here) is just a car.... Garden tractor. Equipment. Permanent ownership. We've 4 tractors here and not a mower deck on any one of them...

briankd 817 #48 Posted February 23, 2020 worked most of the day on this whole tractor has new wiring all put back together need to put front spindle covers on yet and when it warms up more need to touch up some paint here n there. need to get a battery for it fill the trans with oil and engine with oil I haven't ran it yet when i do will try to get a video of it running my exhaust pipe coming out from under hood a tad long but guess will keep the heat away from the paint and may keep me from breathing as much also turned the flapper sideways may help deflect some away from operator. and want to say a thank you to the vinyl guy here what an awesome decal package he sells they and all his stuff are the best out there going to try and leave plow bracket on this as long as it don't interfere with the draw-bar 3 4
briankd 817 #49 Posted February 23, 2020 any one how much oil does the trans hold on this ? i thought 2 quart ?? was looking at menards and they want 8 bucks a quart i may borrow some oil from work 75-90 full synthetic we run in semi's anyone notice the sae. 30 motor oil kinda scarce around me i like to use valvoline or penzoil but hard to come by they have the sae 30 in the mower department and it usually some off the wall no name oil.thought about just useing 10w -
ebinmaine 68,878 #50 Posted February 23, 2020 Trans should be 2 quarts, yes. Oil and it's usage are a hot button topic on this and most forums. There are as many opinions as types of oil and engines. HD 30 oil of SJ grade is best. SN is an ultra low zinc/phosphorus oil and should probably be avoided if possible. General consensus is that it's WAY more important to make sure your oil is changed at the proper intervals than what brand you use. Some have had oil consumption issues using a thinner oil like 10w30. I have used it during the winter and been fine. I don't have the chart in front of me but I know Kohler recommends HD 30 for 3 warm seasons. Above 32 or 40 maybe??
