Mounting front wheel weights

Recommended Posts

Well, i guess i never thought about it.

And now i have reason to need to know...

Howbouts do you mount them, to still add air to your tires , if need arises? Just put the valve stems to the inside? Which mine were and i do not like...or do you use the cutouts on the back, somehow, to get at it if need be?

See pic for weights in referring  to.

Thanks for any help.

Valve stems to the inside. If I need to air up a front tire I just crank the steering wheel left or right to gain easier access to the valve stem

Those look pretty cruddy.  You best send them to Mudville to be discarded so as not to worry.

All kidding aside, my best guess is either way will work.  Keep the air in the tires for sure, but valve stems in or out matters only to the operator.

🤣...sorry, but no, lol. I NEVER seem to see front wheel weights much, let alone factory WH---when i have some spare cash, that is---i am super happy to have scored these.

But i will leave'em to ya in the will, how's that?😊

It has been a WheelHorse kind of Christmas for me😊😊

Now, if i hear back about that tub cart, yet...but dunno *shrug* ...it'll be complete😉

Well, i still gotta get an electric clutch...

...and...

😉🤣

:text-yeahthat:THIS IS WHAT I DO,,,,,,BUT I DID START WITH STEMS OUT......LEARNING  BY EXAMPLE DID IT.....I HAD JUST PAINTED THE RIMS,,,,AND WEIGHTS.....AND HOW OFTEN DO WE CHECK THE AIR.....????   2-3 TIMES A YEAR DO IT HERE..!!!!!   AND MY WEIGHTS ARE ALWAYS ON.....I DO GREASE EVERYTHING WHEN THE AIR HOSE IS OUT...

HAPPY TRACTOR,,HAPPY LIFE !!!!!!!!

Air stems in, but there is a bit of info that I can share. There will be an odd sensation in the steering. It will seem like it over steers I suppose. And if you have clips holding the rims to the front axles, make sure they are engaged deep enough or grove is not worn. The weight adds additional stress, especially on a grade, and I have had those clips pop off and loose the tire. I ended up drilling and using cotter pins.

Definitely valve stems to the inside. It may seem like a PITA when you need to check the air pressure, but it will be much easier than removing the weights every tine that you want to check air pressure. I run all of my valve stems to the inside, weather I'm running weights or not.

The wheel can also pop off if you have a sweeper hanging off the front end and the C clip comes off the front axel. Ask me how I know 😜

As of last night...

I really wish you hadn't posted that.😲

Sigh...more figuring out; more work ahead.

But with fresh snow n a shop with no heat, leaves me kinda dead in the water.

Ah, it's all good.😉

But...can it be spring, now?
