Cvans 1,009 #82 Posted March 14, 2020 The dip stick under the seat doesn't show any oil but when I open this plug oil runs out. Which is the correct level to use? Thanks.
Cvans 1,009 #83 Posted March 14, 2020 Had the Lister WH out for a test drive. Everything works fine except the belt keeps pulling when the clutch is depressed. Made the parts for a clutch brake and will install it in the morning. Then it will be time to pull the big roller. 1 4 1

Cvans 1,009 #85 Posted March 14, 2020 Couldn't find the filling instructions here so googled it and got the answer. Glad I did as I was planning on putting in 80W-90 but it looks like that might not be heavy enough. Have to get some 90-140.

Glad I did as I was planning on putting in 80W-90 but it looks like that might not be heavy enough. Have to get some 90-140. 3 and 4 speeds take 1.5 quarts. 6 and 8 speeds take 2. The oil you have is perfect. Though I realize you're pushing a fair bit more torque than others remember these are relatively slow internally moving parts. Back in the 60s there was a bulletin to use 40 weight in some situations. We use 80W90 in all our gear drives all year round. If you're planning any cold weather usage you'll be very happy you went with 80W90. Videos Man!!!!! We need videos!!!!! AWESOME tractor!
Cvans 1,009 #87 Posted March 14, 2020 Can I download videos straight from my phone to this site or do I have to use a host? I need to increase the stroke of my throttle as I can't get a full range on the governor. I may have to install a bell crank so it will idle lower and run faster. At a low idle it sounds really sweet. Thank you to all that have helped during this project. It's really been appreciated! 3 hours ago, ebinmaine said: We use 80W90 in all our gear drives all year round. If you're planning any cold weather usage you'll be very happy you went with 80W90. 19richie66 17,531 #88 Posted March 14, 2020 I believe they want you to use youtube and post a link. Saves on data used on the site.

I use YouTube and then post from there. On my phone I can't even open directly downloaded videos. They take up too much space on my device.
Cvans 1,009 #90 Posted March 14, 2020 OK. I think I've only used YouTube one time so I'll see what I can do. No promises tho.

Cvans 1,009 #92 Posted March 14, 2020 (edited) This is a simple belt brake that seems to work fine. Can shift now with no problems. Edited March 14, 2020 by Cvans
Cvans 1,009 #93 Posted March 14, 2020 (edited) Ok I'll see if I can attach a video to this. After watching it I see that I need to machine a center for the steering wheel. https://youtu.be/ZEUd5Jgj16I Just to give you an idea of how much torque this engine produces that roller is 2 ft. in diameter and 5 ft. long. It's made from 3/8" steel and is full of antifreeze. In high gear high range at an idle I can release the clutch quickly and it won't stall the engine. I really like this diesel. Your probably going to have to wait till the garden is ready to be worked. I need to clean the shop and get the DeSoto in there. Want to be driving that so it's going to be occupying my time for awhile now. I was kind of surprised that I had a few videos on YouTube. Didn't remember them until I down loaded this one. For some reason I thought they were on Photo Bucket or something. Thanks for sending me there. 1
ebinmaine 68,879 #97 Posted March 15, 2020 Of course you realize that all us folk loves pics of old cars too. I tried to get a decent pic of the park brake on my C100 but it's a terrible angle. I'm thinking with yours what needs to be done may only be adjustment. Push forward on the brake pedal and note how far it goes. You should be able to get the handhold lever to set into a tooth at that point. I do remember having to back way off the adjustment on the Patriot horse and slowly tighten up until it was a usable hand lock to set the brake.

Remove one bolt from the top of the transmission and add at the dip stick hole.
Pullstart 63,201 #99 Posted March 15, 2020 Awesome work on that beast! When you’re sharing your YouTube link, paste it... then press the space bar for a bit and this site will automatically embed the video instead of a link

I was disappointed in the sounds quality. Picked up all the background hash but the engine just didn't come through the way I hoped. 5 hours ago, ebinmaine said: Of course you realize that all us folk loves pics of old cars too.
