SylvanLakeWH 25,535 #126 Posted January 25, 2020 Should be perfect! Looking Good! Hey, not sure your plans but - Don't be scrapping that trailer frame... I know a guy slightly east of you that would put it to good use as another car in the SL&WHRR... Just sayin'...
Pullstart 62,834 #127 Posted January 25, 2020 My first reaction was a big giggle followed by a loud “wow!” I know the front end needs to come up quite quite a bit to get my proportions right. I’m not convinced I don’t need the length of this long square hood... I planned to shrink it short originally. This WILL NOT become a 6 wheeler! Big smoothie 15’s up front, or Yamaha 10’s? What say you? 5
dells68 7,498 #128 Posted January 25, 2020 Well, I’ve had a good cry now! Guess I’m over it - maybe. I’m actually digging the look. Personally, I think you should go with the 15” smoothies. They match the scale much better. Take good care of my cart body there buddy!
953 nut 55,189 #129 Posted January 25, 2020 (edited) Will you narrow the dump bed to get the center of gravity lower or just walk on the wild side? You could always consider tubing it out like a pro street truck. Edited January 25, 2020 by 953 nut
Pullstart 62,834 #130 Posted January 25, 2020 I’m out back contemplating which parts donor wants to give up it’s frame. I have that hacked up freebie 656-ish chassis I think I’ll hack up. Maybe with two front axles, an independent front end might become a reality @wallfish! We’ll see how wide it needs to become!

Those rear IMCA dirt wheels are pretty wide. If anything, I might have to add some seat pan fenders to cover my rubber! Once I settle on my chassis length, I’ll start working on wheel adapters thanks to @8ntruck Bill!

Build an engine plate and hood mount and steering and everything else I need... and I’m golden! 2
8ntruck 6,998 #138 Posted January 25, 2020 Pull start - I kind of like the bigs and littles look with a healthy amount of rake. Would have good looks, but might negatively affect the utility ofyour creation.

Pullstart 62,834 #141 Posted January 25, 2020 Current wheelbase... about 73”. Hot Wheels the 953 is about 48”. Oh yeah, it’ll turn just great! I tossed a fender pan and seat on for reference. According to my sketch and some equations, the hood is a bit longer than it needs to be. I might just let that slide, unless I happen to find a decent short square hood that I can use.... but I don’t have anything laying around that would fit the bill. I did move the box back a little bit and could justify moving the hood forward a bit more if needed.
Pullstart 62,834 #142 Posted January 25, 2020 I’m going to stew on this for a while. Overall body length is 8’8” from the top of the tailgate to the nose of the hood, the hood is 39” high! I might just need to build a frame. 3

19richie66 17,500 #144 Posted January 25, 2020 (edited) Concerning the dump bed @dells68.... reminds me of words from the great theologian Freddy Mercury, “Another one bites the dust”....... My opinion only, I would have to figure out a way to set the bed between the rear tires and lower it down some. Too tall for me. Leave the front wheels but flip the axle and drop it too. But then again, when I see this, I see a T bucket roadster instead of a tractor. Edited January 25, 2020 by 19richie66 2 2
timo4352 147 #145 Posted January 25, 2020 I like the proportions on this one, with the hood a little lower than the bed. It just looks right to me. But maybe looks more functional and truck like than a hot rod.

ebinmaine 67,422 #147 Posted January 25, 2020 Foot room looks a bit scarce on your mock up @pullstart Kevin. Think of a big Bear like me going for a cruise... 6'-1"+. " Not small" me frame. Size 13 kicks. IMHO you'd be better to size it for Max current reach of the girls (to drive) and let them grow into it some. Don't sweat the length. I drive all sizes of machinery. Your mind will adjust to the space of the rig just fine. If you want it to turn tighter you can widen the front axle to the point that the front wheels/tires can turn to about 50 or 60 degrees from straight without hitting the inside of the frame. There are Pete's and other trucks that do that.
Pullstart 62,834 #148 Posted January 25, 2020 Hey @wallfish what is the brand of that green machine... or where’d you find it? I’d like to read more about it, see if I can’t figure some more stuff out. I do have bigger engines, but the Predator was one of the reasons I wanted to build this thing. I want simple, hopefully pull start is simple as can be. Again, I want the girls to be comfortable driving it too... it won’t be setting land speed records anywhere. @timo4352 I see what you mean for sure on proportions. I think I’d like to make this a two seater for chores and rider capability... but staying single seat would keep the leg room at it’s finest being able to straddle the dash. @19richie66 I agree, the bed is super high. With my choice of Wheel and tire, I’m thinking I’d be almost as wide as I am long with the build to get them outside the tub. I’m not sure if I want to build wheel wells in the box or not. @ebinmaine I do have to keep adults in mind, but don’t want to burden them trying to adapt to the machine. They need to be comfortable. Adjustable pedals? Easy to reach creature comforts? Not sure yet. With the tall wheels and tires up front, I THINK I’ll be able to achieve a pretty good scrub radius, but I understand too that we get used to what we’re driving no matter the manners of it. In fact you could build a base with its own adjustment, then seat sliders on top of that.... You'd get something silly like 8" of fore/aft toosh cooshion motion.
