Pullstart 62,834 #1 Posted January 6, 2020 Ok, I am about ready to get back into the shop, now that my bathroom project is coming close to the final stages! I was going to get this thing built and finished then do an @Achto style unveiling but this might need some input from the peanut gallery. I also enjoy the interaction from y’all while it’s coming together! So here’s where I’m at. I have an old Commando 800 rolling chassis that came from the local auction. It’ll get a square hood from the 60’s. Maybe the hood will be shortened... how far I’m not sure yet. The chassis might even get a slight stretch, as I see fit. I grabbed a rolling automatic chassis from @fast88pu at last year’s big show, with hydro lift. It’ll be mated out back with some 15” race car tires. I’m going back to my roots with a @pullstart engine. @elcamino/wheelhorse gave @19richie66 a Predator 6.5 horse engine at 2018’s Big Show, who gave it to me. It should work just dandy, with a dual exhaust dumping out back. The Commando tower has manual lift which I’ll try to retain for underside attachments, since the hydro cylinder will be used for the dump box. Yep, it’s a UTV/Gator inspired build. I still need to find a decent Ohio Steel trailer for the box, or I might add some Wheel Horse flair and use some hood skins to build box sides. I am not sure if I’ll make this a bench seat or single seat vehicle. There are still some some surprises in the works with a special @Vinylguy decal package, but that’ll stay under the radar until we’re closer to completion. Here’s to finishing this thing before June! 4 2
Pullstart 62,834 #2 Posted January 6, 2020 It was about May when I started dreaming this project up. We saw this nice JD 140 at the Portage, WI show. The young man was nice enough to show me the box action. I think hydraulic dump would be the cat’s meow!

The Tuul Crib 7,336 #9 Posted January 6, 2020 I'm doing my back porch project and I can't go quick enough. I walk past all my tractor parts every day to get to the fridge in my shop! Your build might give me some Inspiration!! 1

I need to scour the junk classifieds, maybe look behind grampa’s barn... you know. The usual spots!

I think the steel box would hold up to the real life abuse it’ll see cleaning out the chicken coop, hauling wood or rocks or dirt, etc.

The Tuul Crib 7,336 #16 Posted January 7, 2020 You probably got enough flat steel you can pick up and build you a custom wagon maybe something like an old grain wagon. Like the one with the auger on it.

We’ll get something figured out.

Pullstart 62,834 #19 Posted January 7, 2020 Any ideas on a clutch for the drive belt? I have been thinking of a centrifugal go cart style clutch off the engine that at idle rpms it disengages the transmission for a better neutral than the Sunstrand system.
The Tuul Crib 7,336 #20 Posted January 7, 2020 I think I would stick with the Sunstrand system just because of the hydraulic possibilities

Not a bad idea but it will require you to be on the throttle in order to move, no idling down to putt around. How about adding the clutch system from a standard tranny along with a standard parking brake locking handle. When you step on the peddle it will return the shifter to neutral and disengage the belt. Plus you can set the parking brake to hold the peddle down & keep the belt disengaged. Just a thought?? Edited January 7, 2020 by Achto 1

Is there any upgrade that can be done to beef it up... or find one in good shape and come to a stop before engaging it?
