ALEX ANZALONE 0 #1 Posted January 6, 2020 Looking to get a fabric shed for the tractor. Is there one that seems to hold up better than others? Are the rounded roof ones preferred? I live in Pa. and some winters can be rough. Thanks, Alex.
WHNJ701 4,165 #2 Posted January 6, 2020 the shelter logic covers only last 2 years, they break down with uv rays. the A frame one I bought a the 10 year pvc cover and added emt pipe. it works but you got to keep the snow off them with a broom
ebinmaine 67,277 #3 Posted January 6, 2020 I bought one to put our tractors in a few months ago. Like many things, you get what you pay for. I didn't want to go quite as low budget as HF but I didn't want to spend $800 or more for a ShelterLogic brand. The one I ordered was around 10 ft by 20 ft. Got it off of Amazon for something like $400. Some advice that I learned while researching and buying and building: Put a vapor barrier of plastic or thin rubber under the shed or you have great possibility to create your own weather system inside it. There is a way to greatly strengthen the overhead structure using ratchet straps in between all the rafters. It ties everything together nicely and also makes it so the roof does not sag as much. Very important - if you want the unit to last more than your first winter you NEED TO CLEAN THE SNOW off the top after EVERY SINGLE SNOWFALL. Sunshine is probably going to be the worst of your enemies. You can reduce damage to the tarp covering of the unit itself by putting a secondary tarp over the top.
ronhatch 406 #4 Posted January 6, 2020 (edited) Instead of buying a fabric shed, put that money towards lumber so you can build a nice looking wood shed that will be an asset not only to your property, but the neighbors as well. Oh and BTW, it's good experience too. Edited January 6, 2020 by ronhatch 1

Alex175 784 #6 Posted January 6, 2020 Earlier this year I purchased a 10x20 shed from Shelter Logic through Northern Tool. It was on sale at the time for around $330, and so far I love it. Now keep a few things in mind, as previous posters have mentioned you must clean the snow off during every storm. It is amazing how much an inch or two of snow can cause the roof to sag. The other thing is I went into this purchase viewing this tent as a temporary solution. Under good care these can last a while, however your best option is always wooden, or even metal structure. For me this fit my budget for now and I will be putting aside money over the next 2-3 years to build something.

Cvans 1,009 #10 Posted January 6, 2020 I would think the snow would be less of an issue with that type of roof. 1
WHX?? 48,782 #11 Posted January 9, 2020 It is ..snow slides right off like a 12/12 roof but does pile up at the sides. Worst thing, and we have discussed this many times, is the moisture can build up in these types of horse storage can be be off the hook. I leave the door open and that helps alot .. not only that allows the cats to get in and keep the mice at bay.
