dells68 7,498 #1 Posted January 4, 2020 Well, I decided to begin working on the D169 I bought from @stratostar250 at the big show a couple of years ago. Since the D series are the featured tractors at this year’s show, I figured no better time. Emory has asked me to do a military version and I figure as long as I don’t alter the basic original structure, no harm no foul. Right now, I’m thinking something along the lines of a Korean or Vietnam era Jeep. I had bought a nice original style set of decals from @Vinylguy last year at the show, but now I might need to go with a military look. Terry, @Vinylguy, do you have any ideas on how to militarize the decals? The only idea I’m pretty sure of is a star on the hood. When I fired it up yesterday, the right muffler literally fell off! I did find a nice set of 8”x4” mufflers with 1” pipe fittings on eBay. Started it today to get it off of the trailer as I have to go get some wood for some projects for the wife and a girl I work with. Man did it sound mean! That Onan starts and runs great! I guess that’s all for now - stay tuned! Short video of it running! 9

I think it will be different enough to stand out a little. Here’s a pic of the mufflers I got. Got them for $112 shipped for the pair. Figured that’s not too bad for something so close to original. 3

19richie66 17,531 #8 Posted January 5, 2020 (edited) I’m in. Been thinking along the same lines for the diesel GT Xi project. OD green, Flat black and flat, off white lettering. Brian @Super-C 4 me had been talking about doing a Military tractor also. I see a trend happening. Edited January 5, 2020 by 19richie66 1
dells68 7,498 #9 Posted January 5, 2020 @19richie66, to me these big ole tractors are the perfect candidates. It would be awesome if we could all get ours done and take them up to the big show! Who knows, we might start something. 1

The Frame down each side is built from 3/4" steel and the wheels set back inside the frame. The one the mills had the big heavy front bumper like the aircraft tugs.
