D Series Fuel Tank Cleaning

Recommended Posts

Joker72

So I am about to pull and clean/de-rust the fuel tank on my D200.  My plan is to agitate with garden pebbles and rinse then let sit for 24 hrs with cider vinegar, apply baking soda and then rinse and re-install.

Is there anything I should be aware of?  Words of wisdom?

Thanks in advance.

You might consider coating it with one of the tank sealers such as Red-E-coat or many others

Pullstart

I have used mineral spirits and a handful of 1/4-20 nuts to agitate and clean all together in the past with good results.  You can even screen the junky spirits and repeat.
