seven 202 #1 Posted December 31, 2019 I'm wondering if many of you plow without chains seems like I'm getting by ok without them with lugged tires and I know chains are expensive?
ebinmaine 67,292 #2 Posted December 31, 2019 Lots of us plow everyday without chains. If your yard area is fairly flat and you have plenty of weight you can get away with that. My terrain is way too steep and irregular to get away with no chains.
pfrederi 17,672 #3 Posted December 31, 2019 If what you have works for you don't mess with it. I have to use chains and lots of weight... 1
Ed Kennell 38,025 #4 Posted December 31, 2019 (edited) Steel Vee-Bar chains are better on unpaved surfaces and on ice or hard packed snow. Rubber tires or rubber chains are better on smooth paved surfaces. And without question, weight = traction. BTW, great looking Electro. js5020 111 #5 Posted December 31, 2019 If your setup works then run with it. I don't run chains with bar tires on a sloped paved drive under most conditions.

lynnmor 7,302 #7 Posted December 31, 2019 I have a lot of plowing of asphalt and have no problem without chains, I like the way I can zip around without the bumpy ride. Now the two stage snowblower is a different story since it takes much weight off the rear, so I use rubber chains with that.
