Appreciate the compliment, my Dad is the painter so I can't take that credit. I just did the grunt work..which were I to do it again I would have the parts blasted. It was very labor intensive to do by hand even with power tools. Not to scare anyone off...its very rewarding to see something with practical use and sentimental value come together.

Yep same paint and primer as the rest. Hopefully it takes to the heat! The whole thing needs washed and degreased so the head is lightly bolted down and will be taped up, tins and most brackets will be painted separately. Im tempted to finish assembling it and paint it all together..but the media blasting/hot tank really took it down to bare metal and I don't think paint would get everywhere I'd like it to if the tins and starter were on.

It'll be fine all except maybe right beside the exhaust port.

 

Definitely best to paint as it is. Then add tin.

I painted my Original Cub Cadet with acrylic enamel paint close to 15 years ago and she stills look good. You paint will hold up to the heat just fine.

Managed to snag the original seat pan off the 855 today. That'll be paired with the excellent cover Bob Ellison made.

For my first time ever welding anything, I'm pleased with this repair. Both sides were split clean through, then there were cracks which had to be welded shut than ground down. It's not pretty and I'm only happy with two little welds where I got the heat and speed just right..but with the reinforcement plates it should hold just fine.
