Tractorhead 9,064 #1 Posted December 8, 2019 Normally it‘s very simple, change the Battery.... ok, so far so good, but what to do, if PO glued the whole Key together with 1second glue? Ok, that could be a challenge. i started today some work, to change good parts between the Cars, i imagine that the Doorlock system needs sometimes twice be pressed to react. I thought ok let‘s quick change the battery and we done. there is a small pile for a Screwdriver, try to open it... nothing, not a simple movement. Than i used bit more force, maybe it‘s a bit sticky... The other Key i changed allready the Batt needs also a bit more force. than i increasing the Force until i decide to stop. i wondered, that i found in the other Key 2dips of second Glue. than i tried Acetone, normally a easy way to open such things, but nothing. Next test was put the key in the Fridge and keep it for 4 hours inside. when i take it out of the Fridge i use heat gun for warming arround for use the force on Thermal expansion to break the Gluebed. just with Support of pliers i was able to crack this Glue Bed. all arround was soaked with glue, horrible - i clean it mechanically with a cutter knife. it was clear at the outside, somebody has tried to open it without knowledge. some bruteforce impacts are visible. i try it to smoothen as well as possible, than i see the issue. The Batteryholder was ripped and just clamped with a piece of folded Paper. i lay the PCB beside and clean the whole Key case, as good as possible and try to get it back in Original Shape. Than i repaired the PCB, Solder the Batteryholder back in place, where it has to be. than i try to remount it. About 10yrs ago, we had a Renault Scenic. Can't remember the details, but we needed a new key. £120 from the main agent. "You'll want two," they said.
