Ed Kennell 38,022 #1 Posted November 30, 2019 This raider showed up Friday night outside my Sisters kitchen window and spent an hour destroying and emptying a half dozen bird feeders. He is well over six feet tall probably weighs 300-350 lbs. No one volunteered to go out and ask him to leave. 5 3 1

JoeM 7,871 #5 Posted December 1, 2019 They can be a pain in the ass! Over at my son's place they have a few that got a liking to garbage, oh boy what a mess. Most of the folks that can't store their cans have boxes. He has cracked off a few rounds in the ground and they bug out pretty quick. They move out then seem to circle back around in a few weeks and it starts over again. We never had them and I am unsure if the game commission transplanted some a few years back. I have on a couple occasions seen them driving to work in the morning.

The Tuul Crib 7,336 #9 Posted December 1, 2019 Go get yourself a pellet gun and shoot them in the ass! Just enough to piss him off and scare them away !
ebinmaine 67,277 #10 Posted December 1, 2019 All we gotta do here in Maine is open the door and they run off. They don't want to be around humans at all.
953 nut 55,081 #11 Posted December 1, 2019 My wife took this picture from her quilting room window. He didn't damage the feeder at all, just helped himself to the bird food.

I do have a bear permit Jim. But no one saw him on Saturday when the deer and bear season opened. We did get one buck. 14 hours ago, lynnmor said: Ed, just where is this bear? Since I live not far from you it might be time to reduce my bird feeding. Keep feeding your birds Lynn. This guy is at my sisters farm 200 miles west in Somerset Co. There are some bears here in York Co. though. 13 hours ago, ZXT said: Man, what a deceptive post! I believe I'd be shooting myself a bear.. or is that not allowed? Seems nuts that it would be illegal to shoot something that dangerous. All wild life including bears, bobcats, and rattlesnakes are strictly protected in Pa. although they can be hunted in season with the proper permits . A York resident was recently convicted and fined $1500 for shooting a bear on his lawn. 12 hours ago, WHX24 said: Not in hibernation yet Ed? Have been around here for about 3 or 4 weeks now. Although this bruin was moving very slow and laid down quit a bit while he lapped up the sunflower seeds. 4 hours ago, Digger 66 said: Kind of hard to tell but is that a tag in his / her right ear ? That is a tag in his ear Digger. Bears are here at these feeders all the time and my BIL usually takes them down every night, but he left them up Friday so we all could watch the show from the kitchen window. This is a new bear that he had not seen before (New Raider). Since he is a tagged bear, we assume he was recently relocated by the Pa Game Commission. The farm adjoins the Meyersdale water shed which is a common area for releasing trapped and tagged bears. And "he" is a boar....probably a 3-4 year old.

ebinmaine 67,277 #24 Posted December 2, 2019 No reason whatsoever to be afraid of a standard issue black bear folks. They don't want anything to do with a human. Brown fur? Now that's different.....
