ricky115 4 #1 Posted April 22, 2009 :omg: I have a 1973 18hp 1-0610 that has a leak at the trans-axle case it appears that it splits and the gasket is available. Has anyone ever had one apart? Is it a major repair? or something I might be able to tackel myself. clintonnut 126 #2 Posted May 8, 2009 It's not too hard. It's easier to remove the right half of the transmission to replace the gasket. Use silicone when putting it back together. You will have to take the transmission out of the tractor. Once you have it that far apart it might be a good idea to replace the rear axle seals as well just to be safe.
