12Horse Paladin 1,038 #1 Posted November 19, 2019 I dunno if my pivs are explanatory enough, but that metal rod attatched to that spring, is rubbing the hydraulic hose. How do i go about moving/fixing that? They are tight... Also...what exactly does that rod/spring/wire do? I havent touched a thing...
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,096 #2 Posted November 19, 2019 Rod looks like the lift height indicator item 7-61 Depending on how much it needs to be moved you could add a length of flat stock between the valve mounting bracket and the side of the hoodstand. Have you ever posted the model and serial number of this tractor? Can see the ID plate under the dash in the last photo. Garry
pfrederi 17,879 #3 Posted November 19, 2019 (edited) That is not an original WH spring set up. i assume the original pedal return spring mounted down in the motion control linkage (under the silver plate on the hood stand) broke and I think and some PO came up with the external spring to hold the pedal up. I think the spring is NLA and even if you get one it is a real PIA to install. Item # 104 WH # 1230 edit: Gary is right about the indicator rod. part of your problem is the hose end going into the valve appears to come out at an angle the original was straight The hose looks to be a replacement original had a smooth surface and no white markings. wallfish 17,080 #5 Posted November 19, 2019 You need to get that hose off of there and quick!!!! Remove the lift height rod or swivel the connector for the hose or buy a fitting so the hose runs straight down or space the entire control valve farther off the tower. You can put spacers behind these two bolts marked below. Once that hose gets a hole you will have a mess on your hands with hydraulic oil pissing everywhere. Not to mention high pressure streams can be dangerous. You should replace that hose while you're at it.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,096 #6 Posted November 19, 2019 We have an original illustrated parts list covering most of the 1971 model tractors. The Bronco 14 is identified as 14B throughout the manual. Click on the picture. Garry
clueless 3,011 #7 Posted November 19, 2019 Paul is right, that #1230 spring is a mother to put on, I finally got mine on with the help of my nine year old nephew, small hands, and a pair of extra long needle nose pliers. I have a few #1230 springs if you need one.

12Horse Paladin 1,038 #9 Posted November 20, 2019 GoodMorning to the rest of you, as well😊 In talking with my Dad and him viewing this thread, this issue will be getting tackled asap, somehow. I just want to thank all of you here, for all the time and information you have shared with me thus far... This stuff is currently beyond me; i am not/was never that mechanically inclined. And my tools and space are limited. But i am learning...and enjoying the process immensely. I hope to get mu h of this tractor mechanically squared away this winter; faith and luck will play a huge part... but i wouldnt think it doable, without all the guidance and advice i've recieved here. Thank you all so much. I hope the day is good to you all...

One of our vendors here can fix you up. These are SAE #5 ORB fittings and hard to find I doubt the average local hydraulic hose shop could help you https://wheelhorsepartsandmore.com/hydraulics.html
Pullstart 63,096 #11 Posted November 20, 2019 Here in this link I covered replacement of that pesky spring. Luckily I was in the middle of a build and didn’t have a transmission or much sheet metal in the way...
