44' snowtrower 2 stage belt tensioner spring lost

Hi this morning i did all my driveway and lost my belt tensioner spring  no: 117545 can't find wher it is now , i cant figure what lenght it was or where to buy one

It looks discontinued, I can measure mine in the morning, maybe you can find something close?

Oh ok yes it will be nice have some spring here but dont know the exacte lenhgt thank's

Sorry for the bad pictures, I realized not home tomorrow morning so went out to measure tonight.  The overall spring length seems to be about 14 ½" with the spring part being about 10 ½" to 10 ¾ "long.

 

I can probably do a little better if I didn't hold the flashlight in my mouth

Big broblem now my tensioner spring is broken again but now for real lol where to find a replacement part or idea for mod can't find one stronger enought Tank's

Earlier this season I broke the tension on my 42 in. single stage. I took the spring to a local mom & pop power equipment dealer. He has a box of used springs in the shop and found one that works for me. These people are familiar with most makes of machines. You might give that a try.          Dick

Now i am to add a mod with a car timing belt idler binder

I all read did that but i figure to remove that spring add a binder fix to the blower casing the problem will be resolve for life

I have the exact same issue, idler return spring, 14.5" length.

Discontinued from Toro.

Any ideas on replacement, I can probably put a couple together but getting tension correct is difficult

Get it to hold the belt tight and that's about it as far as difficulty goes. If the belt doesn't slip then the tension is good. If it does slip then it needs more tension.

The ends of springs can be worked by using a blow torch. Heat only the portion of the spring you wish to rework to cherry red so it takes the brittleness out of the spring steel and let it cool. It can now be bent and worked without the spring memory and breaking. Basically, go down to TSC, get a spring and make it fit. This method can also be used to make new hooks on broken springs.
