AHS 1,443 #1 Posted November 8, 2019 Ok, it’s a C160. I know 8 speeds, they have 4 bolt that mount them to the tractor.. simple, and heavy! I am clueless about automatics. They are generally preferred in the snow due to the fact that you can vary your speed almost indefinitely - you essentially have an unlimited number of "gears". There is no slipping the clutch or having to adjust the engine RPM to achieve your desired speed. They'll both spin - the transmission type has nothing to do with the traction of the machine. It shouldn't be in contact with bare metal. If in a tube it's much less of a problem unless a leak occurs. Calcium chloride can weigh as much as 13.5 pounds per gallon.
