Cetan08 311 #1 Posted November 6, 2019 Going Friday to pick up a Toro gmt200. The guy will start it for me but said the ignition switch is out. Has a 60" deck with it that has had spindles replaced. What can you tell me to look for and the issues with them. He said that this one has a 24 horse Kohler on it. Thanks
Cetan08 311 #2 Posted November 6, 2019 Turns out it is a 1978 gmt230 with a 23 horse Kohler.

Cetan08 311 #6 Posted November 6, 2019 No 4x4 but it should be. Just front wheel drive. With that weight and chains, I bet it gets around well.
Guest 88vic #7 Posted November 7, 2019 One could probably cheat and put some wheel horse sheet metal on that. Maybe a terrible idea but easier than building one from scratch. Hmmmm .....

Cetan08 311 #12 Posted November 7, 2019 I am guessing you want air field pictures or both. This is my small plane with 58" wingspan. Does a good job of keeping me busy.

The toro looks like it could be real useful and fun to operate . Does it run?
Pullstart 62,882 #14 Posted November 7, 2019 I have been having thoughts of using a zero turn mower to build a tracked crawler. That would be fun with a two bottom plow too! 13 hours ago, The Tool Crib said: I smell a custom job here. Got some old gas in it so trying not to until I get the chance to clean the system and change the oil.
Stormin 9,981 #17 Posted November 8, 2019 Chris Sutton has one of these Torro's. Six were imported to the UK. I'll say know more, as Chris will be along with photo's and information on his.
chris sutton 610 #18 Posted November 8, 2019 This is a link to my topic, since then ive sold this one pictured and bought 2 more, one new that was stored since 1978 and had never been run and one for parts.
Stormin 9,981 #19 Posted November 8, 2019 I had a drive of one of Chris's. Great fun and they are quite rapid. The deck had been removed, so don't know how it performed mowing. There is a blower attached to the engine, that blows cuttings into the rear collector. There have been a few ideas as to what Chris will do with it. Time will tell, but mowing his lawn is not one of them. Five minutes and it would be done.
Cetan08 311 #20 Posted November 9, 2019 Finally got mine home last night and will clean the fuel system later today. Will also change the oil and filter. The guy wanted $550. for it but I got it for $450. I figure the cool factor is worth that. No rust anywhere and has been kept in a shop all its life. Just an awesome machine. Post more later. Cetan08 311 #22 Posted November 11, 2019 Tried to start it yesterday and no spark. Fuel was not getting to the carb either. Someone had installed an electric fuel pump but it didn't work so I took it off and cleaned the lines out. Took a coil off my Onan and the engine fired up and runs perfect. Drove it around the yard and it is so fun to operate. A little strange when backing up until you get used to how it steers. With all the weight over the driving axle it gets great traction. I will post a video of it running later. 2
