I did that. Then I worked another 14 years and  woke up one morning tired and said maybe I will go back to being retired. I did,

No no no... I not asking for tips from you :occasion-clown: that didn't plan for retirement when you SHOULD have. If you was really smart you would have retired when you was 50 but made sure the Missus kept working.... goes both ways for you ladies out ther... :)

I do have to keep punching out a clock for another year or less.

Any military retirees out ther?

Check with the VA , you may be able to get your health care and Rx's there. All mine come from the VA. Great system in Richmond, Va.

Congrats Jim! :text-bravo:Thanks for your service.

After retiring from crawling around in peoples basements, you better get a part time job doing some thing Jim. I'm sure Cindy don't want you hanging around the house playing with tractors & finding things to break all the time.:ychain:

Maybe you could get a job mowing the greens at Lawsonia with a reel mower on a RJ. 36 holes to mow every day, JUST THINK OF THE SEAT TIME!!:ROTF:

To a certain extent...mainly maintanence drugs and those prescribed by a V.A. doctor at least in my dad's case... Just remember if you are eligible for Medicare definitely sign up for part D for those few times you may need some name brand Rx that isn't prescribed by V.A. (for instance my dad's eye drops after cataracts surgery)

You should sign up with them as soon as you know you're going to retire as they don't like to share the bill with private (employer) insurance plans... And yes for the most part just like Jim said above the V.A. will be you one stop medical shop.

Gee Jim, by the title you had me fooled for a minute, I thought maybe you hit the lottery big on a scratch ticket and were running around your back yard in the dark yelling WOO   HOO  in your birthday suit.   All kidding aside, thanks for your service and don't spend it all in one place.

Thank you for your service Jim!   I know you won't have any problem staying busy. With as many :wh: projects as you have it is likely that Cindy will only see you at supper time and won't even realize you retired.

:confusion-confused:      Guess if you have time on your hands you could invite Dan over and go grass skiing.         :text-lol:

Congratulations Jim and thank you for your service.  Please don't wear out my wife's lawn chair before I can get it back.  :hilarious:

If you guys think that Jim is going to spend any time in a lawn chair...you do not know Jim.:occasion-xmas:  Actually, a good name change would be...WHX 24 / 7.

I've been retired for 17 years best job I every had. As for the VA I stay as far away from it as possible. I don't need them for Meds as I don't take any.

I didn't do any military service, but I have been retired for 10yrs and 37 days. To quote Lee, "Best job I've ever had." Pays not as good though. Have a state pension and a company one. So muddle along with out going mad.

As to tips? All things in moderation. Don't run if you can walk. Don't walk if you can stand still. Don't stand if you can sit. And don't sit if you can lie down.

@AMC RULES        I didn't want to hit the like button , but totally agree 100 % that there seems to be an awful lot of people who should be at work during the normal working hours of the day, I am starting to sound like my father. I hope guy's like you and I are not '' paying them'' to ride around.

Only because the government spent the SSI money that they took from that individual for retirement, and spent it before he or she could collect it. OK better stop now, we might be getting political here.

9 months to go before I can retire, I'll probably start collecting, but whether I actually stop working is another thing all together.  I run a crew and we do framing on custom homes, mostly.  I happen to get a lot of enjoyment and satisfaction from that kind of work, so we'll see :D
