grease zerks

I was just looking at the collection of :wh:‘s and was thinking :confusion-confused:had not thought about grease zerks! So this thought was standard or metric, what size(s), what angles, how many would I need just for maintenance, & for the one being rebuilt. So I went to amazon as was looking around for an assortment kit. So I decide I would just get some very helpful input from everyone here then decide what kit to buy or to make up my own kit. What everyone thoughts, opinions, experiences?

WHX??

All zerks on a :wh: are 1/4 -28 fine thread Bill. They all pretty much take a 5/16 wrench or socket to replace.

I would go with an assortment kit then you have some of each to cover all the bases. I also keep a 1/4-28 tap handy to chase threads if needed & sometimes I drill & tap one in if I think ther  should be one ther.

Hitch pins & rock shafts come to mind.

Real good information guys! The kits I've been looking at have several different threads and a removal tool in case one is stripped and you need something like an easyout to get it out. It also seems since they are all one size that maybe making a kit with the removal tool, then add a tap and die to it would be a better fit. Although other size's would work should I think one should be there. Again many thanks for the information. The best part of the kit is that they come in straight, 45°, and one other angle which will be very handy!
