Tiller rotavator attachment

Hi all.

I have seen a WH for sale over here with a rotavator attachment for the rear. It was being sold as one lot so I could not get the unit separately.

How common are they? 

Thinking one might be good for sorting out allotment gardens.

They are common here, but can be pricey for one with good tines and all the hardware. So valuable, most people that have them don't want to sell.

I really like mine, especially when breaking new ground. I usually make 3 passes alternating direction and this gets the best depth out of the tines. After the first pass, it allows the tiller and machine to sink a bit more and the till depth increases. In previous tilled ground two passes works well for me.

They do handle a lot better with weights on the machine. the vid was my neighbor running a 312-8

A good one here can cost $300 and up.

They are useful tools.  However they work best with a gear drive 8 speed.  You want to go very slowly and they try to push the tractor. 

 

Big thing to look at is the condition of the tines. If they come to a point on the end they are worn out will not till well and are very expensive to replace.

 

Edit:  This is what I mean by pointed being worn out. (Actually from a TroyBilt tiller manual but the concept is the same.)
