The Tuul Crib

I know it's getting cold but  a couple of weeks ago my neighbor calls me up and says do you want to go sailing. Wow what a great time. Don't have any photos of being on the boat because of wet conditions and couldn't take pictures or videos.

That cat brings back memories for me as well When my oldest son was in High school we had a sunfish, then a neighbor gave him an old 16 ft catamaran.  He did a lot of work cleaning it up and fixing things. He and I did good with it,  but it was too much boat for him to handle by him self when he took his non-sailor friends on

Were you here then for the

building of it as well ? We were talking the

other day about what the area looked like

before they flooded it. There was a farm and an old town as well l believe.

back in the day when I was a kid - one family in our extended neighborhood that had a Wheel Horse - also had a sunfish sailboat

went sailing with my friend on a small lake - we didn't know what we were doing - and then this became a huge problem when a nasty storm quickly rolled in

dark - clouds - lightning - and then  rain

we had trouble getting to shore / ramp - turned it over a couple of times (and were able to get it upright) - but then it went over and the sail was completely under

we struggled and could not get it up - but fortunately then someone rescued us and got it back to the ramp

10 or so years ago the family moved away from the house and there was an estate sale

no sunfish - but I spotted a small engine in the corner on the floor of the garage ;  the original Kohler from their Wheel Horse

apparently the father replaced the original Kohler when it began to use oil ... (? - that's what one family member guessed - ?)

I purchased it and it now sits on the floor in my garage

I have enough trouble on dry land. My idea of sailing is a cruise ship. No blow boating for me.

They are nice to watch, especially when someone knows what they are doing.

it was a lot of fun - much more than I expected ; my prev boating experience limited to power boats

if you are from / near western PA

- you might be familiar with the lake we were on

Lake Arthur ... Moraine State Park

This boat will flat scoot across the lake.

Last year when we went out we had a 30 mile an hour wind and let me tell you that was some kind of fun. There's something about hearing the wind blow in the water splash !!!
