Charger 12 snow blower

I have 2 questions. First what size diameter cable is used  on the directional chute. Second, where can I find a diagram on how to set the timing on the chute rotation. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does your cable wind on a 1-1/2" diameter drum on the crank or directly on the crank rod?

If my memory is right it's on the crank. Gonna have to wait till day light. Just recently returned home from the hospital.. Had a mild stroke so I'm not gonna sware to anything.

This manual shows and describes the cable routing for models without a spool on the chank. It is in pdf format so you can enlarge the picture to see the details.

This OM (operator manual) shows the cable threading for ones with a spool.

I think I am using 1/8" galvanized aircraft cable on mine. Smear a little grease on the cable twice a season and it works well.

Have read when some have used string trimmer line.

I have used heavy(0.105") string trimmer line with some success.

I don't have a diagram, but if you turn the chute to full left, then attach the cable to the front of the chute and pass it around the front of the chute and around the proper guides, and then thread it thru the hole in the crank shaft.

Then turn the crank Clockwise while turning the chute to full right position.  The cable should wind to the front.

Unwind the free end of the cable from the rod and pass it around the proper guides and chute and attach it to the remaining side of the chute.

Forgot to ask one obvious question. About how long does this cable need to be. I have part of the old cable left on the blower but I don't know if it's all there. Thanks everyone for the help and especially for there patience. I do truly love this page.

I checked the cable on my 6-0200 and calipers show it to be 1/16th of an inch. I would think you could take a measurement from the control arm around the shut and back to control arm and add 6 inch's and when done cut of the excess.

I am saying that is the right way just my way, but it would get you in the ball park.

using trimmer cable is easier to use as a try and improve option.  found it easier to improve routing and add improvements , before going to the steel braid line. also take the time to LUBRICATE  ANY RELATED MOVEMENT POINT, jmoo, pete
