those old planes are a real treat, going fishing in alaska , i flew from dillingham  , to the togiak river range in a recently restored  1945 gruman widgeon  flying boat , first river landing in dense brush , really got your attention !  the water flow was so fast , barely had to throttle it down, water came over windshield then , quickly flushed off as was designed to do , but scary to initially look at  10 inches of water on windshield. lake hood in anchorage  is a float plane mecca  , lots of ww2  craft still in use . if you are ever in seattle , make sure you visit the boeing mueseium , incredible, aircraft, tour guides are former fighter pilots, pete

Piper Super Cub suits my needs  and my price range. The local grass runway airport is 1/2 mile south of me and my neighbor likes to take me up and we fly to a food destination for lunch.

I won't fly at night in a single engine........ Had a bad experience more than once........
