recycler deck question

Do any of you that use a recycler style deck to grind up leaves in the Fall notice that air from underneath the deck can push out and you get a plume of dust that follows you around the yard?  When I got the recycler deck a few years back I made circular rubber discs that went under the kickers and stretched tight around the spindles to try and keep the area above the plate that the kickers sit on clean. It works great but I wonder if by blocking that area off, I've made it harder for the deck to work as designed.  The deck itself seems straight and I've got it so that the front is roughly 1/8" lower than the back so any pointers would be great as it seems to me that everything should stay under the deck.

Thanks

I had a 42RD recycler years ago. I dont recall any sort of a dust cloud when running it .. no more then any other deck mulching leaves anyway. Running my WH vac on a 42SD, even with a modern high powered vac unit.. it still blows out the front a bit and leaved you in a fog.

My dad (former WH dealer) and I had a conversation about this recently. I mentioned to him about wanting to do the same thing you did to the openings around the spindles to keep the dirt from building up, and he said not to do it because he remembered a bulletin or memo back in the day regarding just what you're questioning. Won't hurt anything and it will keep some of the dirt out of the area around the spindles, but it will affect it. I put a set of Gator blades on this summer; cuts fantastic but talk about kicking up fine clippings ………..
