hi guys im just wondering if any of you ever used a pickup truck dump kit like this one or this one from norther if so how did they work and are they worth the money? or anyone got better ideas i get a lot of calls for 1-2 yards of topsoil and mulch and it sucks to haul the dump trailer for that little

:omg:  chris i have been seeing those in the northern book for a long time and thinking about it , my only ;concern is the weight at the front of the bed , it just seems that the weight there would stop the lift ,l i don't know, i have a 3500 chevy dually and think it would handel the load but am concerned about the lifting capicity. i saw one on another truck and the lift is mounted really far back , toward the rear of the bed,,, i just don't think it would lift a full load of soil.. :(

The ones Ive seen have a full frame under the truck bed to help carry the load when lifted... now the ones that Ive seen area all on show trucks Sooo cant say how they handle loads, but a 2x2 square tube frame should handle 4k lbs pretty easy... no longer than it'll be anyhow

:omg: the reason i made the previous comment is , the one i saw the lift was mounted with the force being pushed up was almost back of the wheel wells ,, that leaves a lot of weight on the very front ,, if it is heavy soil, i just don't know if it would pick it up or not.. hate to spend a lot of money and it not work like i would want it to;. am like you , if you get it ,, would you post your opinion....

Ive heard good things about some of the slide in dumps but never seen much on the conversions. Should do ok for mulch and topsoil but Id still be tempted to reinforce the bed. Have you looked around on ebay for the dump kit or at least the scissor lift? Use to see some old stock units sell now and then. :omg:

If you watch this video at around 1 minute in you see what happens when a tri axle dump gets stuck next to a creek. Truck moved trailer didnt.

I have an EZ-Dumper slide in insert. It works great. I would opt to go that route so if and when you change vehicles, it can be switched easily. They are fairly expensive new (2-3K) but are out there used for less. They have a subframe that the hoist is mounted on which will transfer the weight better to the truck frame. I am not sure what mine is rated at but I have had 2 3/4 ton in it and it dumped it OK. I purchased a different truck with a shortbed so couldn't use it. I found a trailer slightly bigger than the dump with 5K tandem axles. More than needed but the price was right. Works great.
