Brake lining material

Recommended Posts

Mickwhitt

Hi all,  my C-125 rear brake band is shot, what materials do I need to replace it and where can I source it from?

I cant find any suitable looking stuff in the uk and shipping from the US is expensive for what it is.

Regards Mick

We have a vendor here that makes up the linings and you just glue them on.  @rmaynard  He is on vacation for a couple of weeks now.  I think you can order it, but you would have to wait until he gets home to fill the order.  It's worth the wait.  :occasion-xmas:

Currently my PayPal vendor site is down. If anyone needs a brake lining, just PM me and I will ship it out.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

Another vote for @rmaynard and his brake linings. Shipping will be costly tho.

Never had to reline one. Yet!

I'll have a word with a friend mine. He relined a Ransomes crawler clutch I think.

Cut a chunk out of an old leather belt....  works for me.  Flexible & long-wearing...cheap too.  JB Weld for bond agent.

If it’s not a hard working tractor I’ve used a piece of thick belt leather. It does work very good. I just used a little contact adhesive to bond it to the band.
If you need a brake band in a pinch it’s a cheap easy fix.

found some  CONVEYOR BELT MATERIAL , to be a bombproof replacement , cut it to size,  glued it in place  no issues , worked out well , once it takes a set  , on shape around the barrel , should last another 38 years, pete

I will try a few different options then. I do have some decent leather belting and some odd bits of conveyor belt.

Hi all,

I was recommended to try custom brakes and hydraulics in Sheffield.

The reline anything from giant cranes to classic cars.

They will reline and bond the material in place for £30 which is ok by me.

Guaranteed repair so some peace of mind.

I will post pics when done.

Managed to sort out a newly lined brake band using these guys from Sheffield.

Dropped it off at 10am and it was ready to collect at 3pm. Cost £40 for cash.

They said if it has friction linings, we can handle it. So PTO clutch linings should be ok as well.

They handle all sorts by post so you might be able to make use of them.  Thinking about PTO clutch discs too.
