Mickwhitt 4,584 #1 Posted October 13, 2019 Hi all, my C-125 rear brake band is shot, what materials do I need to replace it and where can I source it from? I cant find any suitable looking stuff in the uk and shipping from the US is expensive for what it is. Regards Mick
ZXT 2,401 #2 Posted October 13, 2019 (edited) @rmaynard is the guy you want to talk to! Edited October 13, 2019 by ZXT
stevasaurus 22,706 #3 Posted October 13, 2019 We have a vendor here that makes up the linings and you just glue them on. @rmaynard He is on vacation for a couple of weeks now. I think you can order it, but you would have to wait until he gets home to fill the order. It's worth the wait.
ebinmaine 67,265 #6 Posted October 13, 2019 What does @Stormin Use?
rmaynard 15,427 #7 Posted October 13, 2019 Currently my PayPal vendor site is down. If anyone needs a brake lining, just PM me and I will ship it out. Sorry for any inconvenience. 3
Sparky-(Admin) 21,300 #8 Posted October 13, 2019 Another vote for @rmaynard and his brake linings. Shipping will be costly tho.

He relined a Ransomes crawler clutch I think. Edited October 13, 2019 by Stormin
daveoman1966 3,745 #10 Posted October 13, 2019 Cut a chunk out of an old leather belt.... works for me. Flexible & long-wearing...cheap too. JB Weld for bond agent.
Burnerman 758 #11 Posted October 13, 2019 If it’s not a hard working tractor I’ve used a piece of thick belt leather. It does work very good. I just used a little contact adhesive to bond it to the band. If you need a brake band in a pinch it’s a cheap easy fix.
peter lena 8,580 #12 Posted October 14, 2019 found some CONVEYOR BELT MATERIAL , to be a bombproof replacement , cut it to size, glued it in place no issues , worked out well , once it takes a set , on shape around the barrel , should last another 38 years, pete
Mickwhitt 4,584 #13 Posted October 14, 2019 I will try a few different options then. I do have some decent leather belting and some odd bits of conveyor belt.

The Tuul Crib 7,336 #15 Posted October 14, 2019 Just curious what did they use for the original material on these?
Mickwhitt 4,584 #16 Posted October 15, 2019 Hi all, I was recommended to try custom brakes and hydraulics in Sheffield. The reline anything from giant cranes to classic cars. They will reline and bond the material in place for £30 which is ok by me. Guaranteed repair so some peace of mind. I will post pics when done. Mickwhitt 4,584 #17 Posted October 17, 2019 Managed to sort out a newly lined brake band using these guys from Sheffield. Dropped it off at 10am and it was ready to collect at 3pm. Cost £40 for cash. They said if it has friction linings, we can handle it. So PTO clutch linings should be ok as well. 1
Stormin 9,981 #18 Posted October 18, 2019 Bit far off for me, Mick. But good to know.
Mickwhitt 4,584 #19 Posted October 18, 2019 They handle all sorts by post so you might be able to make use of them. Thinking about PTO clutch discs too.
