Johnson Cooling Repair

Recommended Posts

Ed Kennell

The 1990 Johnson  9.9 wasn't pumping as it should this year.   So, it was time to replace the pump before winterizing.

All the O-ring seals were mush and everything was full of crud.

About 4 hours later, I had the old pump out and ordered a new pump kit.

Cleaned everything, tapped all the holes and cleaned the bolts.

Replaced my Johnson 60 hp this year along with starter. Lasted since 84 so I am not complaining!!!

Just curious, Is that run in salt water? Mine was not nearly so gunked up...no experience with salt water impact on engines but understand it is pretty hard on them...

Yes, 100% salt water usage.
