Learner 6 #1 Posted October 12, 2019 Hi folks!! I've just purchased my first wheel horse garden tractor!! They're hard to come across in Northern Ireland, it's a C81. Really pleased to have tracked one down. In reasonable condition. I'm also new to forums so trying to find my way about I'm hoping to track down a plough for cultivation. I believe a need a slieve hitch to attach the plough. Since these will also be hard to find is it possible to make your own. Thanks in anticipation!!

Learner 6 #3 Posted October 12, 2019 Hi 953 nut! Thanks for welcome. Drawing is fab. Really appreciate that. I had visited the forum about 1 maybe 2 years ago. At that time I thought I'd tracked down a wheel horse in Scotland but it fell through:( Now I've finally got one I'm delighted! Doubtless I'll have more questions. Thanks again

Learner 6 #5 Posted October 12, 2019 👍😊 Thanks for welcome! Looking forward to learning about and using what are fantastic machines. Only wish there were more of them about here!
Learner 6 #6 Posted October 12, 2019 Pic of my machine. Plan on draining, flushing and replacing all lubricants in first instance. Points are missing a cover so plan as a priority to track that down. Is it a standard cover on kohler engines or is it engine model specific? Starts on turn off key.

peter lena 8,702 #10 Posted October 12, 2019 welcome learner, that point cover should be available on the internet , i think they are a common size and shape,in addition i would take advantage of your easy starting , and enhance it , with lightly sanding all electrical contact slide on points ,and using a small amount of DIELECTRIC GREASE on every connection. easily available at your auto parts store . when starting on a new project i take advantage of its strong points , and verify them, that lets me go on to to the other needed repair areas. as you said you are going to replace lubricants , you probably will also need a shift er boot , that will let water get in your transmission. keep us informed if you can, and don,t be afraid to ask , pete

Learner 6 #16 Posted October 13, 2019 Thanks Stormin Really appreciate the info. I've a lot to learn. Would like to try to get my WH to do a bit of work in the garden in due course aside from pulling a trailer. Will be keeping my eyes out for some implements or possibly do some improvising! My skill set is basic but will give most things a go. Thanks again.
Tractorhead 9,064 #17 Posted October 15, 2019 Independently on your Skills, i think a good Start for a Trailer was an Automotive Trailerhook. usable for some different things... Car Trailer (leight weight) or some other Gardenimplements... ah, wait i have a small Video of what i it just needs a bit of adapter and here we go. Learner 6 #19 Posted October 21, 2019 Hi folks, got wheel horse home! Already looking for another one, with my wife's approval of course! Wee query, I appreciate that I need clevis hitch at back to attach some implements etc but what do I need to raise the hitch. Thanks again in anticipation. Stormin 9,981 #20 Posted October 21, 2019 (edited) The lever on the left of the tractor, is the lift lever. That is attached to the hitch, clevis or slot, by a cable. Edited October 21, 2019 by Stormin
