FAST 87 #1 Posted October 10, 2019 I have a c141 and in the classifieds there is a ark loader 500 for $1500. First will this fit my Horse? Second is that a fair price for something like that? Third would it take a lot of customizing to fit my Horse? I apologize if I’m not supposed to ask opinions on things in the classifieds.
953 nut 55,091 #2 Posted October 10, 2019 An Ark 500 will work on a C141 if it has a compatible sub-frame. The sub-frame distributes the weight and forces developed from a loader to the axles of your tractor to prevent the frame from damage. If the pump, cylinders. hoses, and frame are all in nice shape and the sub-frame will fit your tractor then $ 1,500 is a reasonable price. If you will need to build or modify the sub-frame or do other repairs then the price should be adjusted downward.
rmaynard 15,428 #3 Posted October 10, 2019 There is no problem in asking questions. That is my loader you are referring to. As shown in the video attached to the classified, the loader is mounted on a 416-H, which has the same basis frame as the C-141. One of the reasons that I wanted to modify the sub-frame (and didn't) was due to the fact the hood on the 416-H is wider than the C-series and I could not open it completely. The only thing you will have to do after attaching the sub-frame and loader to your C-141 is to modify or fabricate a bracket to mount the pump conveniently to the area of the PTO. There are many options/choices. Many posts on this forums show mountings of all types and configurations. Bob
FAST 87 #4 Posted October 10, 2019 Thank you both. I was wanting to build one myself but now seeing this has me wondering if just buying one would be better. Problem is if I make it I can customize it more. Guess I need to think on it some more. Thanks again
JoeM 7,871 #5 Posted October 10, 2019 That $1500 is a decent price, especially if Bob has it. Almost bet it is in tip top shape. The parts for those loaders get more expensive each day, Cylinders, pumps etc just seem to keep going up, at least the higher quality ones/
Tractorhead 9,064 #6 Posted October 10, 2019 @FAST just few words to build it self: I can give you maybe an suggestion for your decision, because i build actual another one myself. Yes, not for a Wheelhorse, but that was another story. After i recalculated the Money i invested in plain material i’m a bit cheaper, but until all was finished i could also buy one, that is allready finished and saved about 500$. Ok, i had my own imaginations, how i will do that, but if i have to do this again, i think it was cheaper to buy an final product and rework it as needed for my purposes. The plain Material cost was just one side of the medal, the time you’re invest to build this is the other side. Don’t underrate the work at all. it was several hours of Welding and cutting and drilling, but i have parently access to a well equipped Workshop. If i calculate additional my used time i must invest to build, i‘m sure it where cheaper to buy a final product, what is in good condition. Don’t underestimale how much addon parts are needed an how much parts have to be build, ( i did it) and how much Time it takes, also for few items you need a very good equipped Workshop. If i wasn‘t be able, to use the Weldingtable in our office, i could some things not do as i did. it was definitely not „much cheaper“ to build your own, thats for sure. I found the offer ok. just my 2 cents.

c-series don 8,666 #8 Posted October 10, 2019 I have an ark loader (although it’s tagged as Wheel Horse) on a C-141 8 speed. I believe I paid $1600 for it 15 years ago. I purchased them separately but when I put them together it looked like they were meant to be. My C-141 even has the wrong hood decals but they match the decal on the loader frame so I left them on the hood. Here’s my future son-in-law moving our new grill for assembly.
FAST 87 #9 Posted October 10, 2019 @c-series donthat looks really nice. Thank you for posting these pictures. It’s nice to see what my tractor would like like with the ark loader. Do you like how it operates and do you use this tractor as a mower as well?
c-series don 8,666 #10 Posted October 10, 2019 This is my dedicated loader tractor. I do like the way it operates, it’s good for around the yard things but as many here will tell you it’s hard to steer with a full bucket of dirt. I am an equipment operator by trade so I know it’s kind of a toy but it is a handy thing to have. Changing from the loader to a mower deck will not be a quick thing. I’d recommend leaving it on and getting another tractor to mow. 1 1
