clueless 2,976 #1 Posted October 8, 2019 I looking for a battery jump start pack for my garden tractors, most of what I see out there are for jumping cars, high amps. Anyone know of or have a good 500 amp or less for under $100.00?

It is 600amp and not too much bigger than a smart phone. It will work to start your GT or car, charge your cell phone, or tablet and will keep a charge for up to a year. It will charge your phone about 2 times or start about 20 engines. I've used mine many times and keep it in the pocket of the rear door of my truck at all times. I think that I got mine at Walmart but here is a link to the same one Home Depot. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Schumacher-600-Peak-Amp-Lithium-Ion-Jump-Starter-Power-Pack-SL1314/307780209?mtc=Shopping-BA-F_HC_A-G-D25T-25_31_GARAGE_AUTOMOTIVE-NA-NA-Feed-PLA-NA-NA-Auto_RLSA&cm_mmc=Shopping-BA-F_HC_A-G-D25T-25_31_GARAGE_AUTOMOTIVE-NA-NA-Feed-PLA-NA-NA-Auto_RLSA-71700000037147753-58700004141485307-92700046881584711&gclid=CjwKCAjw5_DsBRBPEiwAIEDRW3zONIpjx5M3GmnYz5sKIef_enDGTq3LNVum8LQT1yokyKSfCsVCARoCd3EQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds For about $20 more you can get an 800amp model that has a slightly larger body. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Schumacher-800-Amp-Li-Ion-Jump-Starter-with-USB-Ports-and-LCD-Display/522657381?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=1727&adid=22222222227111879389&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=233118880683&wl4=pla-383823398042&wl5=&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=522657381&veh=sem&gclid=CjwKCAjw5_DsBRBPEiwAIEDRWwiVNr3lS9naTWnMU16C-BBCXPmBHLTuIC9BTxixKrBpmXzqF54MIRoCrE0QAvD_BwE

Not big enough to start most cars if they are dead dead, but will do a tractor just fine. Since these types of devices are designed and marketed for starting cars I doubt you will find one with less than 540 CCA. I wouldn't worry any about having a higher amp jumper, a load like a starter will draw what it needs and leave the rest. ZXT 2,401 #6 Posted October 9, 2019 (edited) I've never owned one of the smaller jump packs that have been mentioned above, but I know a few people that have and they have had good results. The only downfall is the reserve they have. If you're jumping off something that starts easily, great. If you're trying to jump something that's been sitting a while, you'll probably melt the tiny leads before you get it started. As for a good full-sized jumper box, forget those that you find at Walmart and Oreilly's and such. I've owned a few, as has my dad and other family members. They don't have reserve worth squat, and even though they claim 700+ cranking amps, they won't crank a V6 through a dead battery. The best jumper box out there, in my opinion is the JNC 660. I read that they were the best, and bought one for my father for Christmas. He had it a 2-3 years before he forgot it at a car show after jumping a 32 Plymouth with a dead battery. It had excellent reserve and would start a big block Chrysler or Chevy through a battery that had been dead for 30 years with ease. They have pretty long leads too which is helpful. I need to buy one myself but always have something that else that needs the money spent on it. They're around $120 online, but they are definitely worth the little extra money upfront.
