DadsPuller 36 #1 Posted September 29, 2019 My daughters and I began a family project to put a pulling garden tractor together for next year! Hopefully it leads to some good daddy-daughter bonding, family memories and a nice tractor they can ride next season... Here we go! I scored a mid-80's Wheel Horse 312-8 tractor for FREE from the neighbor guy. It runs, but needs some TLC. 6
ZXT 2,401 #2 Posted September 29, 2019 Can't go wrong for that price! Looks like the deck needs a bit of repair, though! It'd be good to keep around for another tractor. What's the tractor in the back of? A 90s Dodge truck? I like guessing but there isn't enough of the truck in the picture for me to be sure.
JCM 9,167 #3 Posted September 29, 2019 I have also enjoyed the Daddy- Daughter bonding on the same model for 30 years, great tractor to teach them how to drive with a Manual transmission and a nice simple tractor to start out your Wheelhorse addiction. Good luck with your project and WELCOME TO RED SQUARE.

Spareparts 84 #7 Posted September 30, 2019 They are making memories that last a lifetime, and it will make them independant as hell in a few years, that "I can get this done, just watch" attitude, love it. Got my grandson started when he was 3 and he is 8 now and into his 6th year of pulling, he pulls right along with the grown-up's and does good. Enough bragging on with work. On your rear wheels, I went to Feldmans Farm Supply and picked up some 7/16" fine thread bolts that were threaded full length, screwed them through the back of the hub's and put a little red Locktite on the head before tightning down, got some 7/16" lug nuts W/ 3/4" head for mounting your tires, a lot easier than lug bolts.

PeacemakerJack 10,738 #10 Posted September 30, 2019 Welcome to the forum! There are so many reasons that it is a great idea to do a project like that with your kids. You are not only making daily memories like the pictures above but also teaching your girls some invaluable lessons. I have worked on a few projects with my daughter and she has enjoyed it although mechanical things aren’t her forte. I’m looking forward to following your project. If you haven’t already, start a thread in the resto’s and modifications section and I’ll be sure to follow along. Welcome to the community, looks like you and your family will be a great addition!

The Tuul Crib 7,336 #15 Posted October 1, 2019 I tried over the years to get my kids involved with the stuff that I did such as woodworking and small engines. Had no interest at all whatsoever . Although they did grow up to be successful in their endeavors . This is a great thread keep the memories going yall!!
TonyToro 1,049 #16 Posted November 21, 2019 Awesome to see your children, especially girls to be into this sport/hobby. My daughter likes to drive them but doesn’t like to work on them. The complete opposite of my son who loves working on them and Driving. He has be pulling since he was 4 and working right along side me for almost 4 years now. This forum is filled with great people with TONS of information.
