Pullstart 63,220 #51 Posted November 5, 2019 Amazing work! I say, you Euro fellas are so crafty with shop equipment!
Mickwhitt 4,812 #52 Posted November 5, 2019 I'm totally self taught pull start. By no means a precision engineer but I can make bits no problems. You American guys are pretty nifty with the ole mechanics too. I could not get hold of a gauge type fuel cap hence the modification. Just starting on getting the fuel tank sorted ready to fit. New fuel lines going in, a primer bulb, in line filter and fuel tap. Mick 1
Stormin 9,981 #53 Posted November 5, 2019 Primer bulb is a good idea, Mick. Both the C-125 and the Black Horse have them. Saves a lot of cranking if they've been standing for a while.

Mickwhitt 4,812 #55 Posted November 5, 2019 Thanks Sylvan, I have renovated a lot of machine tools in my time but never a vehicle like this. Similar methods but this seems more of a living thing as I will get to drive it when it's done. Mick 2
Mickwhitt 4,812 #56 Posted November 6, 2019 This was a lump of scrap when I got it. Complete strip down, repair and repaint got it to a usable and valuable machine. I've done several milling machines, lathes, drills etc to use in my home shop. Now I get to use them to refurbish other projects. Mick 1 2
Stormin 9,981 #57 Posted November 6, 2019 Very nice. Long time since I've used a shaping machine, Mick. Did a lot of work on them when serving my apprenticeship and 20's.
Mickwhitt 4,812 #58 Posted November 6, 2019 Norm, They were thought to be too inefficient for production work but in my little shop I really wanted a shaper. The finish is so much better than milling can produce and it's so relaxing watching it go about its work. Plus I can have each of my three milling machines and three lathes set up to do different jobs without disturbing them. Mick

And good at getting you to nod off. 4 hours ago, Mickwhitt said: Plus I can have each of my three milling machines and three lathes set up to do different jobs without disturbing them. You've got a virtual machine shop there.
Mickwhitt 4,812 #60 Posted November 6, 2019 Bit of a Heath Robinson lathe job this afternoon. The steering wheel had been bashed about a fair bit so I decided to try and tidy it up. That meant it had to go in my capstan lathe as it's the only one with enough centre height. I cleaned up the rim and turned the centre boss flat. Tomorrow I will make a threaded cap to fit over the boss.
Mickwhitt 4,812 #61 Posted November 6, 2019 Also fitted new bonnet catches today and the new fuel lines. All in all a good day. 4
Mickwhitt 4,812 #62 Posted November 6, 2019 Just a question. There is a slot cut in the right hand side foot plate/wheel arch. Any thoughts on why it's there? The tractor came with no seat deck but a roll bar frame. Not sure if that was original.
Mickwhitt 4,812 #63 Posted November 7, 2019 This is the Ebay photo of my WH in North Wales. You can see the odd arrangement at the back end. No seat tray or mudguards, roll bar fitted. It looks a home made set up but I'm no expert on WH machinery. The lights look right but are fitted in a metal frame to protect them, seat was original but damaged so I fitted a new Toro one. Mickwhitt 4,812 #64 Posted November 7, 2019 Steering wheel centre boss done this morning. Looks neater than the bashed wheel centre. Will keep moisture out of the wheel shaft too so no seizing. 3 3

I am not certain, but I think some of the tillers had a belt running through that area with another belt guard. Also, that ROPS bar is not factory at all. Mickwhitt 4,812 #67 Posted November 7, 2019 I did wonder about a rear PTO belt, but the ones I have seen went under the foot plate. I will have a look at the alinement tomorrow. Been painting the seat tower etc this evening. Mick
pfrederi 18,023 #68 Posted November 7, 2019 (edited) No cuts needed for a normal tiller installation... Mine is up in the storage shed. If the snow doesn't pile up tonite i will try to get a picture tomorrow. Edited November 7, 2019 by pfrederi
Mickwhitt 4,812 #69 Posted November 11, 2019 So, quite a busy weekend for me with running the home boarding business so not much done on the WH project. But, The seat tray is in for shot blasting and priming. The bonnet will go for the same tomorrow. Lots of bits and bobs primed ready for painting. Seat support and tank refitted. Shoukd all start coming together pretty quickly from now on. Then it will be setting up the engine which I'm hoping wont be too much of a PITA. Stormin 9,981 #70 Posted November 11, 2019 Thought you were quiet over the weekend. Was wondering if the flooding had got you. Engine is pretty straight forward. Points can be a bit of a pain.
Mickwhitt 4,812 #71 Posted November 11, 2019 Thankfully the floods were all around us but didnt affect us too much. Local pub almost got flooded again which would have been a real disaster lol. I can see my tractor pulling cars out of the lake which forms in the pub car park. Mick
Pullstart 63,220 #72 Posted November 12, 2019 I bet the regulars would drive into a lake just to park at the pub!
Mickwhitt 4,812 #73 Posted November 13, 2019 Got my seat deck back today, looks great in primer, just have to get some pain on it now, bonnet will be ready Friday. Not done much today as it was our community tidy up of an area of waste land opposite our home. I have formed a group to try and make the area a nicer place. Hopefully Fred will be a great help hauling tools and doing work. Mick 1
