520-H Creeping backward

Not sure on the year, model plate is worn off. It is the style where the motion control lever is between your legs. First issue is the I cant get neutral. No matter how much I adjust everything and nothing looks worn. I have read that section in the manual several times. I will admit it isn't the clearest to me, especially when talking about setting the linkage length and line up the side of the washer with the slot... Anyway, I can get it close enough that it isn't bothering me, but, after I hit the brake and stop the tractor it will slowly start creeping faster and faster in reverse. I does the same when I am actually going in reverse too. It starts out at a slow speed, but the longer I leave it in reverse, the faster it will go. That even isn't a huge issue. The biggest is that it will start moving in reverse on its own. I did notice that when I hit the brake the lever will return to the far back side of the "neutral opening" instead of toward the front. If that makes sense.

Motion lever  on the console between your legs makes it an '88 or '89 model.  '90s and up went to the steering column.

Is the cam plate worn?    Does it hold if you lock the brake?       I have foot controls that are designed with a spring loaded  reverse default on all my hydros,  so I always set and lock the brake when I dismount the tractor.

Did you take the plate off and clean all the junk out? The plate also can wear,  my 518-h the plate is worn just enough so I can't let go of the motion lever if I want to back up slow,it will slide back to neutral, pain when backing a a trailer. Not sure if a weak break spring could cause it,

Do you happen to know what the model number of the tractor is, so I can order new parts. Might as well just replace them so I know everything is tight. Maybe they are worn out, but to my naked eye they are fine.

Well, I think I got it, haven't put it to the ground yet, but on the stands it is working as it should. Turns out the nut on the main shaft coming out of the transmission was loose. Must have been allowing too much play in the adjuster plate. Tightened that nut up, and I could finally adjust it back to no speed. Reverse and forward seem to be functioning properly as well. What a nightmare this was.
