23 Reo 229 #1 Posted September 20, 2019 I have a 36" rear discharge deck from the mid 70's. The spindles do not have grease fittings. How do I lubricate them?
daveoman1966 3,745 #2 Posted September 20, 2019 You don't. When they go bad, buy replacement bearings # 103119 for about $25 each on Ebay...or sometimes $60 for a set of three. Just press out the old bearing and press a new one in its place. 3
Rich16 32 #3 Posted September 29, 2019 Does anyone know where you can get 48" blades for these? Also some spindle replacement help. I just got a ?mid 70's? 48" deck that seems to be a 'Double D' style while picking up some original wheel weights and he was cleaning out the shed. It surprisingly looked like it'd fit my newer 416-8 and 520H (he said it would) though I was a bit skeptical - but no more! Works great and fits perfectly. There are several replacement spindle bearings on eBay/Amazon for these and I downloaded the guide but wow - they are confusing and all look similar. Many of the newer complete replacement spindles are easily available (gotten three) - anyone know where you can get these complete? I'm not sure exactly what I have except it's a 48" - it has the solid cover over the top of pulleys but otherwise looks similar to the later ones and again fits just fine.
