Going to get the mail is a highlight of my days

I hope that is your driveway that you are doing donuts in.  There is a real problem out here with people doing that on their quads on township roads.

My driveway and I maintain the 250 yd. private road... by myself. I've never asked for any compensation and none is ever offered by the 10 other residences who use it.

In other words - screw them if they don't like it. Lol...

I live on and maintain a 1 mile long private road. We share the cost of rock with 9 other land owners and nobody gets charged any road maintenence .

I agree. If they don't like it tough ****!!!!

There is a difference between a privately maintained road and one i pay taxes to maintain. So go for it on your own road..

Reminds me of the RED NECK RACEWAY in Shapleigh, Maine back around 2013 or 14 if I remember correctly. My Significant other took care of the paperwork at the entrance to the pit for the riders to sign a waiver and then she would Notarize it. It was some good entertainment on a  Sunday afternoon.         Kinda like Pony Express.     Thanks for the video.

Jim, you need to meet this guy sometime. He lives about halfway between me and you.

You'd be roughly sideways fascinated with him.

I just went back through the build, still a cool project!  I need one to compete against the kids on the go-karts!

Off topic but I gotta ask... @pullstart Can’t you at least paint those things red...? :ychain:

Back on topic: what a cool build! I went through it and he’s got me thinking back to the go kart clutch idea for my ongoing build...!!!

A lot of ingenuity and skill went into that thing! :bow-blue:

They aren’t mine... “Grandpa” bought them and asked if he can keep ‘em at my place for the girls!

Just for fun. To race I'd need bumpers, maybe simulated deck halves... I did build to race specs for 2 different classes. One with these back wheels and another w/ smaller back wheels.

My fear of getting injured is real. A veteran racer told me it's like racing an anvil. Mower landing on me if rolled or flipped is a legit concern IMO.

Thanks Eric. There is a make-shift / pseudo dirt oval just around the corner I like to bomb around on. One of these days I'll video record a few laps. Can usually drift a full corner in 3rd gear going maybe 30 mph.

I heard about that. Also that they stopped after someone was injured and sued. Liability waivers don't seem to carry much weight once you get to court.

Nice to see another So. Mainer here!

Thank you! I have a few other projects in line but first to finish new pole barn so I can make room in the garage.

One project I'd like to do will involve something around a 50-ish inch wheelbase, 200cc 5 speed atv engine, 3" - 5" travel, 4 wheel suspension, and done in 1930's or 1940's hot rod / rat rod style.

A neighbor's father was visiting and asked me, "What are you going to do if any neighbors complain?" I told him, "I'll tell them to kiss my shiny metal a$$". He was howling with laughter.

Yeah... that can happen.

This was a MN Lawnmower Racing event at our county fair.

We cut a grass “road” track in the yard, bring it on over!  I mowed it last night at about 1” high.  I’ll need to bag up the trimmin’s so the engines don’t suck it all up!

let me know if you need anything for that project. I've got a pretty fair Parts selection developing up here.

Awesome! Right now I'm looking for the main inspirational sheet metal that I can modify / chop / hack. 1930's auto grill / grill surround, hood... Condition is of no concern. Broken, bent, rusty is all good. Style-wise / general look, I'm looking for parts to make a grill like this or the next photo I've posted.

001-green-1930-ford-model-a-roadster-fro

I'm probably going to have to learn how to shape sheet metal better as I've yet to find anything. I did see somewhere where someone made a waterfall grill surround out of 2 pickup truck fenders (about 3" - 4" of the lip / opening) stood them up vertically, welded center line and used a ss oven rack for the grill. You can almost see a truck fender lip in this photo (above) if you divide the grill surround in half vertically and rotate the half 90 degrees to horizontal.

Any ideas appreciated also. I just need that one piece and I'll be inspired to start. Yes, I will likely start this project with a grill and go from there.

Here's another grill I really like:
