I bet our buddy @wallfish has a work around for what’s allowed!

A simple one. Add a WH hood and fender pan plus some other small parts. I've seen plenty of "Custom Wheel Horses" at the show which have less WH parts on them.

That's not supposed to be there until tomorrow...or at least that's what USPS told me when I finally sent it out lol.  You'll need an SD card but should otherwise be good to go.  There's a bunch of different mounts and such in there so I'm sure you'll find a use for it. :happy-bouncygreen:

So I figured I should add to this thread.  Yep, we’re jumping around a lot this week!  The girls are on spring break for the week and spending a lot of time in the shop.  Win!

Their grandpa gave them a pile of tires and wheels for the go-karts and they are chomping at the bit to get them up and running on the track.  I’m looking forward to some go-pro recordings!

None of the wheels fit the hubs and I have yet again turned to my new found Bridgeport skill of machining some adapters.  First step, find center of the jig.  I’m on within .0015” and that’s good enough for a go-kart.

It’ll be grasslands... or front yard :handgestures-thumbupright:

we used to race 1/2 scale Arena Cars.  1/10th mike banked indoor track series in the winter time.  There’s a lot of those little slicks around the place here...

The 4 car in this blurry photo was one of ours... we had 2 or 3 at one point.  They were almost as expensive as a full sized circle track car at the end of the day... and the series expired.

Funny seeing go kart thread. I just picked this up the other day. I planed on giving it to my nephew until I rode it. Yes I know what you are all thinking, no way I could fit in it.... but I did. Was not comfortable and was VERY hard getting in and off of it. I am 6'5" and go about 260 lbs. This thing sits about 1 inch off the ground with no suspension. You feel every stone, crack, dip in the road. You have to drive it on pavement it wont go in the dirt or grass. Didnt really consider that when I bought it. It is a 49cc 2 stroke engine and it goes. Guessing it will do about 30 mph. Now I am not to sure if I should give it to my nephew as he is only 7. Being that he would have to ride it in the street not sure going to fly well with his parents. Need to find one like the ones you have. Look like a blast !

I keep telling her what I learned in high school shop class Stefan!

”If you come to tell me that your safety glasses were run over, I’m going to ask why your head didn’t get run over too!”

i heard that every day :handgestures-thumbupright:

I suspect that the bolt patterns of 4/100mm and 4/4” are close enough to not need different holes, but it’s set up and we’re doing it.

I see that with a big honor to you, to guide her to use Safety wear.

you be a great Trainer.

I see several time Kid’s here sometimes guided by elders, they drilling or even Grinding things without safety googles.

That allway‘s annoy’s me even when they mean, it‘s only a quick Thing, especially when the Kid‘s not guided to wear it.

Most of them seems not to understand, they have only one eyepair.

If something fails or go wrong, the World can get dark forever.

We are all to young for a dark World, independently how old we are.

So because of that, my Thanks for taking care of the Safety.

Just like to say that .

- and now back to your Projects, i like it to see, what ya build.

👍

I need to find a counterbore for the kart’s studs... I have no threads exposed.  :hide:

The 4 on 4 pattern seemed to work fine for both wheel types.  I did some math and came out with a blueprint.  I’ll see if jumping around hole to hole is any quicker than spinning 90 degrees per hole.  1 down, three to go.  Then two more karts to make adapters for.

I finished another adapter tonight.  I accidentally ran a counterbore into a tapped hole but I believe I can stick a washer or the like on that stud to make up the difference... or just face it down on the lathe a bit.

The extra width aughtta help turn!

The 100mm bolt circle is about 1/16" smaller than a 4" bolt circle.  The bolt hole to stud diameter clearance is large enough that the wheels will mix mount.

HOWEVER, the chamfer on the lug nuts will not match the countersinks in the wheels.  You will run the risk of the lug nuts coming loose when mixing the two bolt circles.  Probably could get away doing this on a 4 mph tractor.  Entirely different situation on a 30 mph go cart.

One wheel style is a flat captive nut design with no chamfer.  They were used on 60-100 mph race cars.  Would we be ok if pre-race checks included torquing the lugs?
