rjg854 11,490 #1 Posted September 10, 2019 I'd like to get a bit more forward speed out of the 877, I have. I've tried search, but the words haven't yielded the answers I'm looking for. It seems reverse is plenty fast, but forward not so much. Are there adjustments I can make? Daveoman has supplied me new parts for the motion control. I believe I've got it adjusted properly according to the manual. Is there something I'm missing? It just doesn't seem to go like my 16 Auto does.
953 nut 55,793 #2 Posted September 10, 2019 If the acceleration valve springs are broken or weak the valve will not allow enough fluid to pass for ideal performance.
rjg854 11,490 #3 Posted September 10, 2019 Well Richard @953 nut you lost me with that post. I looked through the manual at the schematics and don't see what you speak of. So if you could elaborate on that, I'm all ears.

rjg854 11,490 #5 Posted September 11, 2019 Not yet, but once I download it, I will definitely read through it. Thanks for the manual.
953 nut 55,793 #6 Posted September 11, 2019 Randy, the acceleration valves will modulate the changes in fluid pressure to give smooth operation. When you go from forward to reverse they take a pounding and over time the springs fail. The valve in the exploded view (parts 1 - 8) is located at the front of the Hydrogear and is the reverse acceleration valve. The forward valve is at the back, go figure.
rjg854 11,490 #7 Posted September 11, 2019 Are the springs still available or is there anything equivalent and is it something that I can do? If that's what's needed.
953 nut 55,793 #8 Posted September 11, 2019 I bought some from a friend of @refracman about seven years ago. Perhaps you could PM him to inquire about his friend having any left. I haven't heard of anyone having a stash of them but will start a post to see if anyone has found a replacement.

rjg854 11,490 #10 Posted September 11, 2019 Thanks for the information and suggestions on my acceleration woes. Come to find out the fix was quite simple. The arm that either moves the tractor forward or backward must have gotten bent at some point and was hitting the belt cover so that the cam wasn't getting full travel. Once I bent that so the cam had full travel the difference is night and day. It moves right along like it should I'll be able to make a plow tractor out of it yet 1
