24x12-12 Tires

Recommended Posts

I've got a 520H with room to fit an actual 23" tire. Stock tires are the Duro 23x10.5-12 which measure 22" by my measurment. I know that many tires are an inch shorter or more, so i was curious if anyone is running a 24" tire as described on the sidewall. I'm specifically looking at the OTR Lawn Trac 24x12-12 (R1 type Ag tire) to try. I've found on some other forums people running 12" wide tires on 8.5" rims with success, but most are turf tires on ZTRs. Does anyone have an actual dimension of an Ag tire in 24" diameter? Thanks!

I have the 23x10.50-12 OTRs on my 520s they run very close to stated size... I believe you'll be fine with the 24x12 but keep in mind with a 48" deck my left rear tire sometimes catches on the deck height adjustment bracket... Here's a little thread I started on tire sizes...

I'm running a 60"  mowing deck which is part of the reason for the larger tires. The 60 cuts so close, I'm trying to get it higher. Taller tires can only help. I've ordered the V61 front tires which appear to run slightly taller (I don't think 18" tires will clear the deck) so a 24" rear tire should be a good match. Based on my research, most tires are about an inch short, which "should" work out.

Adjust the wheels on the deck? Taller tires won't really do anything for cut height, in less there is no "slack" in the deck lift mechanism.

I should have elaborated. Adding another hole to the adjustment lever range, and maybe taller wheels on the deck would be the second part of the solution. My goal is to get a 4" cut from the 60" deck. I think I have right at 3" now with the deck fully lifted (no "slack"). a 1" taller tire should get me 1/2" more of deck height. Closer....
