I'm hoping I can set the steering just right so I can keep those handles but I don't think I'm going to be able to.... 3/4" x 6-1/2" should do it though, eh?? Achto 27,570 #877 Posted January 29, 2021 Personally, I think that I would ditch the handles.

ebinmaine 67,456 #881 Posted January 30, 2021 The Paint Department is havin' a go today. @JCM these might look familiar to you. 4
JCM 9,138 #882 Posted January 30, 2021 Lookin good there Trina, nice work. Glad to see it go to a good home. Just a reminder in case you are not aware the rear mounts on an 8- speed tractor bolt to the inside of the sub frame Eric, and on a Hydro tractor the outside as per the Kwik-Way owners manual. You can also use that with or without the weight box you just need 2 axle brackets Part # 13794 or make your own.
Oldskool 6,644 #883 Posted January 30, 2021 Trina you're doing a great job. Keep it up. Glad to see some progress. Eric good supervisory skills 🙂. Looks like a Mossberg in the back ground? 1

Likely be able to start with the standard 8 speed position and go from there. I'll let the tractor line itself up as it's built. I'll be fitting the rear part of the trailer hitch right to the subframe as well. 2 hours ago, Oldskool said: Trina you're doing a great job. Keep it up. Glad to see some progress. Very useful for helping to convince rodents they don't belong in my area.
ebinmaine 67,456 #885 Posted January 31, 2021 Made some other progress today as well. While I was fiddlin around with a transmission or two for @OldWorkHorse Trina wanted something to do. One MUST keep her busy. So she changed over to the beautiful red extra long aluminum lug nuts I had. I like the fact that these lug nuts completely encapsulate the entire thread of the lug bolt. Good holding power. Earlier today I spent some time removing a steering wheel and the bushing the holds the steering shaft from this dash board piece. I believe it was on a C160 chassis. It's the wrong wheel and was already loose so not much of a fight. Trina then cleaned it up and sprayed it. Love the Copper. So anyone know where I can get one of these here bushings?? 3

Tractorhead 9,064 #889 Posted January 31, 2021 The bearing is from the steering shaft i guess. right?
Stormin 9,981 #890 Posted January 31, 2021 Wow! Progress! Can you replace that bush with a Pollard bearing and housing? Cost more but make the steering smoother and last longer.
Maxwell-8 4,275 #891 Posted January 31, 2021 Or convert to a ball bearing! that would make steering even smoother. I have been thinking about doining it, because me steering bushing is pretty much gone too.
