For this particular tractor I kept up with the "metal" color theme following the name. I bought a few cans of different shades and textures. ebinmaine 67,462 #440 Posted March 29, 2020 Got more done on a rainy day.. Pulled the masking tape off the transmission and discovered that the axle seals didn't set right on installation. Changed both axle seals and drive input seal. (Hadn't done the input seal yet). Fiddled around with the 7" adapter for awhile. Had to clearance a couple holes. Got that lined up nicely and bolted it to the transmission. Installed the seat spring, helper coil and seat. I put the wheel bolts in the hubs and installed the hubs on the axles. I popped the wheels on to test for clearance. If left as is I'll have only 2.5" on the closer side between the seat and tire. I'm going to install 3" spacers so that'll give me 5.5" on the left and more on the right. 8 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

The other was fine. I swapped out one carrier bearing from a parts transmission. The other carrier bearing was from that same parts transmission but I swapped the entire case half. The difference to this tractor is that it has GT14 axles which are roughly another 3" per side. I'm no expert in levers and fulcrums but I realize that alot of us run things like a tiller that hangs a bunch of weight out the back... Or a weight box for a loader. Colossus will be a woods puller which will be hauling a Max load of 300 to 400 additional tongue weight on rare occasion. Normally no more than a couple hundred pounds added tongue weight. I'll have to have a spacer adapter of some sort just to mount the wheels because the hole in the center of the wheel is nowhere near large enough to go on the wheelhorse hub. I do fit between the tires but not by enough to make me very comfortable on a moving tractor that does not yet have fenders on it. It wouldn't take much pitch or roll for the side of one of my hips to touch the tread. I'm not sure what if anything I'm going to do about that just yet. The longer hubs will distribute the weight/side torque forces across a longer portion of the axle that extends past the bearings, You probably won't bend an axle, but worth considering. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
