jebbear 377 #201 Posted November 16, 2019 I realize I haven't been around much lately, but I was beginning to wonder what I missed with all of this talk of outhouses!

ebinmaine 67,562 #204 Posted November 20, 2019 @pullstart here's the tires that are going on the back. They'll be on a narrow rim so the cross section will end up around 7". 3
Pullstart 62,905 #205 Posted November 21, 2019 Are those 12” or 15”? They look great!

Pullstart 62,905 #207 Posted November 21, 2019 Same bolt pattern as your hubs, or adapters required?

PeacemakerJack 10,738 #210 Posted November 21, 2019 Those tires are going to look great on Colossus! Seem to be quite similar to the ones that Dad put on Clyde. They give a ton of bite when optimum traction is needed. Can wait to see those in place on the machine

I really wanted to use what I had on hand like we always try to do. I'd like to be able to find some steel weights to go along with the fact that these tires will be fluid loaded. @Mows4three Dave has a set in Western Pennsylvania that would work out perfect but the shipping is a killer. I believe it was @Ralph S that had made up some hub mounted weight holders for his pulling tractor and perhaps I'll take advantage of a system such as that.
ebinmaine 67,562 #212 Posted November 23, 2019 One of our hiking friends is a fabricator by trade. She made up the spacer to go between the frame and transmission. It's 7 x 7 x 7. 5/16" thick. One side is solid capped and the other has a 5" hole to access the bolts. I was originally going to mount it "hole side" down but Trina and I have decided to keep it "hole side" up because it will be EXTREMELY handy for holding general items. Small tools. Gloves. Water bottle... Whatever..... For reference the tiles are 12" square. 4 1
Stormin 9,981 #213 Posted November 23, 2019 Just a point, Eric. If your going to use it to put things in, I'd drill a hole or two in the bottom. You'll want dry gloves and water in a bottle. 3

This one won't get used for snow plowing duty or any kind of inclement weather.

Pullstart 62,905 #216 Posted November 24, 2019 Yeah... a breakdown might change the never to usually. Shows might be the same type of rule breaker.

You know, looks perfect size for a wine chiller... little ice, foam around edge to keep bottle snug, drain hole with drain tube, couple hooks for glasses off the side...very romantic for a date night...or you could add a compressor and go with a micro refrigerator unit off the PTO... 2

ebinmaine 67,562 #220 Posted November 27, 2019 Looking forward to this 4 Day holiday weekend because I'm going to be spending a little time getting organized and making a pile 'o parts. The paint department has requested that. I've been processing things in my head about how the brake and clutch linkage is going to connect. One of the big challenges in my head with this project was figuring out what to do with the linkage because of the spacer between the transmission and frame. Here's a couple pictures of the sheet metal from the 1977 C-160 I'm going to be using. Looks to me like if I can keep the geometry the same all I will need to do is lengthen the rod that goes to the brake shoe and figure out how to attach the clutch pedal return spring at a different point. Probably right to the side of the adapter I'm going to be using.
ebinmaine 67,562 #221 Posted November 27, 2019 Also of note is that because the shifters will be back 7 inches I'll have a nice place to attach a flat metal plate to the top of the place they used to be. Perhaps a good location for a gauge or two?

Also may be a good spot for a beverage holder... Excellent points. Thank you. This one won't be outside in the weather unless there's a breakdown or unforeseen circumstances as stated in one of the previous posts. Perhaps farm tractor gauges would be a good idea? One would think that they would be weatherproof? I believe the adapter itself is going to end up being the beverage holder on this one. Big hole in it. 5" diameter I think....???

Perfect for one of @19richie66‘s cups!😉 i like the idea of the gauge plate, if you are going to lay them face straight up though, make sure that their operation won’t be impeded. Moisture and possible function could present a problem as most gauges are on a vertical surface of some sort. I’m sure it has been done before—just a little research on the specific units you are planning to install would be prudent. Cant wait to see what the paint department does with the newly acquired sheet metal!!! 1
ebinmaine 67,562 #225 Posted November 27, 2019 @PeacemakerJack Awesome idea on the Richie cup. We have a couple here. I see a photo op in the future. So on those gauges... Vertical versus horizontal is not something I had considered. Any thoughts on how I would find out information like that?
